i have an Acer h233h monitor which i purchased from best buy and i was wanting to know if anyone could tell me what settings would help me achieve the best picture quaulity. The monitor has decent presets but i would like the best. If any suggestions involve too large amounts of noney i will no be able to use them since i am only seventeen, which means i cant afford too much. Thanks to anyone who can give advice.

Greetings
Time to use a test disc like DVE ... AVIA ... DVE HD Basics ... even the THX optimode on any THX DVD will help here. The THX one is effectively free since most people already have some of these DVDs in their homes.
The other discs cost $20 to $40.
You can't have the best if you don't want to spend money or time to get there.

I will most likely end up purchasing an avia calibration dvd, however i was interested in finding out if anyone out there has this same monitor and if they had some preferred settings that give them a good picture quality. I will also note that i am not using the monitor as a computer monitor, but rather as a display for my xbox360. Also this is probably not on the right forum but i was also curious if anyone who does have the monitor has any input as to the quality of a Blu-ray player attatched to the montior via an HDMI port, an attachtment that i hope to add to my gaming/ theater setup no matter how small it may be at the moment.:D

A good thread to read about sharing settings.
And realize that swapping numbers is not calibration so if you are intent on doing that, you will need to take it to one of the other forum areas.

Oh well that does make sense, i just read the link and didnt realize whtat i was doing. Well the whole idea came from a guy at best buy who suggested it as an option to professional calibration, which is expensive, and after he bashed the calibration discs. I can clearly see that guy is a moron now. so thanks for the help mike it's much appreciated.:)

OT..Vista 64 on my all in one desktop had color adjustments available as Gamma, brightness and contrast for primeries but SP1 deleted those options and grayscale looks way way out. Is there a software that can download w/o spending a lot of money to give me access to RGB gain/cut and gamma? Thanks
