Just finished The Unborn, transfer was pretty solid. I did detect some DNR, facial textures seemed a little too smooth in some scenes but overall the PQ was impressive with accurate flesh tones, impressive black levels, and nice depth of image. The AQ was decent, nothing really all that special. Dialogue was pretty consistent and the scary scenes offered up some nice LFE but overall it is not a very dynamic audio track and the score was fairly weak as well.

The movie itself was less impressive than it's transfer, I'd give it a 2/5 and that's generous. Another great potential wasted on poor writing and a PG-13 rating to attract the 15yr old kids dropped of in front of the theater. It did have one good scene part of which was shown in the trailer with a mutated old man crawling (arched up and backwards) down a hallway after an old lady... kinda creepy.

I'd recommend a rent first on this one.

How was the unrated version on the same disc?

This movie is terrible. It seems since this movie came out around the same time as The Uninvited (and their titles are similar sounding) people tend to compare them. In that regard, I'd recommend The Uninvited way before this one (though I'm not basing this off the Blu-ray transfer, just the film alone).

I guess it must be a little less creepy if you're familiar with The Exorcist?;)

How was the unrated version on the same disc? It's not much different. I didn't go frame-by-frame, but the only difference that really leapt out at me is a very short sex scene where all you see is Casey's douchey boyfriend's back. There really isn't any gore or splatter, and there's nothing that wouldn't have gotten by with an R.

indeed it was but still... there is something about things crawling after someone that freaks me out.

I just connected Odette Yustman was also the hottie in Cloverfield... yes I'm a bit slow:p

Looking forward to your impressions. I've read a few reviews and no one else has reported any DNR but I could swear that at least 2-3 scenes appeared to have a light sweep over Odette Yustman face.

Well at least you will have a title with some near reference PQ but I warned you to rent first;)

Watching Transformers the other day, I think she plays the girl whose car wheel becomes a Decepticon and attacks her face.

Or Famke Janssen in THE FACULTY. However, the kid in UNBORN was much creepier than the white-faced boy in THE GRUDGE.

Terrible movie. First it was My Bloody Valentine, then Friday the 13th, now this. Three horrors in a row that I couldn't wait for it to end. What has horror come to!?!?!?!?!?!?
What the heck was Gary Oldman and Carla Gugino thinking when they signed on?

Odette is yummy but could use a double quarter pounder or two.

I'm curious but I've pretty much heard nothing but bad things about this movie. I'll pass even on a Netflix rental.

Odette's acting could use some work too. It wasn't good but I jumped once or twice. I've come to the conclusion that good horror movies are a thing of the past.

That seems to be all the creativity left in Hollywood... remake classics or remake successful titles from other countries. Of course we have Jennifer's Body (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0dq3ToOBwM) to look forward to:rolleyes:

I'm just hoping The Descent 2 and H2 (Halloween 2) will be halfway decent.

What can I say, If it wasn't for the chick this movie could be the worst movie ever made!

I think it really depends what type of horror film you like. I'm not a huge fan of slashers and typically go for those that have more of the creep factor. I enjoyed The Unborn but it's not something that I'd add to my collection. Definitely worth a rent.

Anyone else find it amazing that they actually got Gary Oldman to be in this? I couldn't believe they got that level of talent.

Good disc, dreadful movie. Universal's UK wing got the right idea and opted to market the film based on its sole redeeming quality:
