benjamin-benjami 07-08-09, 05:49 PM meh with a capital M
logicalnoise 07-08-09, 05:56 PM nope...not really affected by any of those. yeah they might've been cool as DLC or something but just looks like Activision is indeed going for a more pop soundtrack. the niche songs they have chosen are interesting but not what I'd call guaranteed fun tracks to play. I love "du hast" but it's going to be kind of boring to to play on any instrument. mix in neversofts ho hum charting and I again feel comfortable in my shunning of GH.
Weezer - "Why Bother?"
Agreed.
^lol. nice one
it'll be a buy for me being a game that i can use my fake plastic instruments with and have fun.
im just surprised there aint no guitar hero (anything) love and as such, i love to "kick the beehive" from time to time by posting something that goes against the avs rock band herd. lol

Only those in bold interest me and underlined artists/songs I can't stand to listen to for more than a few seconds. Very 50/50 in regards to potential song-playing enjoyment.
If this ends up being the final list I'll wait a couple months, but if they were to add some more APC I could be 'suaded into a first day purchase. They're doing master tracks again, right? Wouldn't want to play some lame, censored version of "Judith".
Gorillaz? I love the band, but that's not a band that belongs in GH or RB.
Lots of nice first times in a rhythm game bands. Kings of Leon, I've been waiting for them. I hope they get some more songs. Peter Frampton, Tom Petty, John Melloncamp, Elton John...bad song choice, but still good to see it in there.

The rock band edition of papa roach - last resort was horrible. Totally ruined the song, and the mix was weird. I'd rather not have censored songs, just skip them please.
mproper 07-09-09, 12:51 AM Finally! I was beginning to think the GH franchise was dead. It's been like a month since they released one.

Lord Flatus 07-09-09, 12:03 PM If that list is real, then I give them credit for pretty good looking soundtrack again. (I still dont' have GHWT but the song list looks nice to me.)
Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting is harder than hell to sing. I tried it once at a karaoke bar a million years ago and I was tEh sUx0r. And I used to listen to the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album over an over until the grooves of the vinyl were grount smooth when I was in junior high.
officially speaking the following 24 songs have been confirmed

I've never played Rock Band, but it surprises me they would even include that song due to its content, much less the language present. BYOB wasn't censored, iirc, so maybe"Judith" would be spared, if it's even included in the game. Still an interesting song choice for a game as popular as Guitar Hero considering MJK's strong distaste for god/religion. I can imagine some highly religious parent walking in on her 10 year old kid screaming "'eff your god, your lord, your christ".
thejokell 07-09-09, 01:47 PM FYI, there's already a Guitar Hero thread (covering all of the games):

completely agree.

.
Activision says that all Guitar Hero games will be full band going forward from "World Tour".

saw that thread. personally i think every new game should have its own thread. otherwise we would have an 8 year old Halo thread, a 5 year old Forza thread, and a deals thread from the stone age. i couldnt imagine digging through all those pages to find some bit of information.
i mean look at the rock band thread ;) 1 thread for 2 released games, 2 add-on track packs, a bazillion DLC tracks, and 2 upcoming games? how ever would anyone find out any information. tell me what DLC came out in middle of march by digging through that mess. you'd never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany :D i keed i keed
that's just me though
Wow. I coudln't be more underwhelmed by that playlist. Looking forward to GH Van Halen (so long as they have Sammy tracks in there along with DLR tracks.)

No, not just you.... some people like new threads on sub-subjects, others want to keep to as few threads as possible. I guess it depends on an individual's message-board habits.
In the early days of Rock Band I started a "drummers only" thread, only to have it immediately crapped on by people that didn't want multiple Rock Band threads, so I had it locked. I saw their point, and I see yours too. I'm not sure what the consensus is here at AVS, but I think it's for fewest threads possible.

I like your taste in music - those bolded items are the only ones that interest me. I'd love APC track pack too.
Might have to add Rammstein's 'Du hast' to the mix so I can scare the neighbors.
Seems the official list has been released. Looks to be the same from the Joystiq link above, but I'll add a link to the 1up "story" anyway.
I'm thinking a day 1 or 2 purchase for this guy.

whiskey > work 07-30-09, 10:10 PM yawn
WalksInDarkness 07-31-09, 08:47 AM Yawn++
There hasn't been a really good GH release since GHIII (that being said GHII was MUCH better). GH:Metallica was definitely passable; but even though I am a HUGE fan since 1983, I want more variety on a disc. I'll eventually buy Metallica and Smash Hits, when they end up in the "$19.99 Bin"
darklordjames 07-31-09, 11:26 PM Your 360 Avatar is now a playable character in GH5. :)

I'm sure that's worth $60, to somebody...
-sweetness- 08-03-09, 03:42 AM I actually counted 39 songs that I like on that list, but I'm not sure how fun they would be to play and I'm just not a fan of the whole way that GH is setup so I will probably be skipping this one.
That said I might get on eBay or something just for the Muse song.
nnarum23 08-03-09, 07:22 AM I like the GH franchise more than RB...But the amount of games is getting annoying.
logicalnoise 08-03-09, 07:59 AM I like the GH franchise more than RB...But the amount of games is getting annoying.
is it because the company producing the games obviously has no interest in the quality of their titles and only wishes to meet a marketing number that states they can make profit on 6 quickly and cheaply produced games a year? Or is it teh mind set that more features = better gameplay?
cueCrew 08-03-09, 09:56 AM I'll stay away from making any bold statements here since I buy RB DLC and have kept picking up GH titles along the way despite my caution. Along the way, I've given some brownie points to the new graphics and some mode upgrades GH has thrown in and I've always enjoyed running through the setlist at least once. "Once" is not as a big a deal as it could be, because there are certainly DLC songs that I haven't rushed back to. For the 100's of RB DLC, they are still played by the same characters in the same venues...
Certainly there is a benefit in not having to swap discs, but if the characters/ranks could somehow be transfered between the games it would address most of my lingering frustration.
Now if I could just use my avatar to play Call of Duty ...
