View Full Version : Would steroids / HGH help out a professional gamer? Should we monitor top pros?

More endurance, quicker twitch skills when playing FPS, tighter grip on the controller. These are all benefits I can think of off the top of my head. The downsides are tremendous however. Moobs, shrunken balls, mood swings, acne, congressional hearings. So do steroids have a place in competitive or casual gaming? Imagine the power of human growth hormone flowing through your veins while you play a game! Should congress be investigating professional gaming? Let's discuss

no. lets forget this thread ever happened....:p

seriously--not sure if hgh or steroids would help per se--they can hep build muscle tissue but the added irritability would probbaly work against people i would imagine. now stimulants--modafinil, methylphenidate, amphetamine salts, etc...these could potentially have a performance enhancing effect due to increased vigilance, better sustauned attention and focus, less fatigue etc. I would be more worried about this class of medications (stimulants) than steroid based preparations...

a full congressional hearing should be a top priority for the Obama administration.

I don't see how steroids would help, weed maybe for extra focus or alcohol in moderation to help relax.

I was thinking the opposite of weed and alchcol,I would have thought getting really relaxed is not a good thing for Halo, maybe speed or coke for increased mental stimlus?

What we really need is "Go" pills like the airplane jocks take.

Remeber kids drugs are bad.........unless your in the US army/airforce/navy and then you should pop lots of them.

I guess it all depends:

If you rest your hands on your balls whilst holding your controller, then the shrunken ball aspect could present quite a learning curve as you struggle to find a new "home position" whilst gaming.
If you sometimes get frustrated when you can't pull off the Peruvian Neck-Tie in UFC09 and accidently smack yourself in the balls, then shrinking them up would be a definite advantage as they would be out of the way.

When I saw the title of this thread in the Xbox Area, I knew I had to come in and drop a comment. You're kidding me right? Lol. HGH for gaming? Wow dude you have creativity. I hope you don't actually try it though.

But if you do I am aware that there are oral steriod applications that have less of those notorious side effects such as moobs, acne, and shrunken testies.

I have never tried it, but it's from what a friend told me haha.

Nope, still get all of those, plus liver failure.

Good thing you can't test for acid. Now that will have you focused on a game for hours.

might also land you a reply to the 'what's your longest gaming session' thread.

A couple years back the Bush administration banned "prohormones", supplements such as M1T, Andro, and a few others. At the time you could go in the mall and buy this as GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. Most of them did not have severe side effects like injections but their enhancements was not as great as the injections. Mild side effects were common reported but nothing as severe as b*tch tits (moobs) or shrunken balls. You would get side effects like irritability, acne, increased libito (good for you, bad for your g/f), and loss of appetite. Of course it all depended on the user.

Back on topic, steroids will have as much impact on gaming as a can of Mountain Dew, with far more thrown controllers and broken TV's.

Yeah, I enjoy off-topic stuff as much as anyone, but this is ridiculous. Worst of all most of them aren't all that funny. (And believe me, I invented not funny).

I thought it was already known that pro gamers take Ritalin as it creates a level of focus much higher than normal.

So how do you know who is the dealer at the gym? Just find the shadiest looking guy in the bathroom?

I think your thinking of a different kind of injection then whiskey?:p:D

weed maybe for extra focus or alcohol in moderation to help relax.
I think either of these would be pretty detrimental to a professional gamer. Alcohol would just slow down your reaction time. The effects of weed may be good for concentration at first but you'd get hit with burnout pretty fast and most tourny's run for pretty long periods.

Stuff like Ritalin, Adderal, etc are probably the more ideal drugs, and in all likelihood, already being abused by some at the top level.

nice bump and I agree krimson. Which is why my question centered around these new performance body enhancers and no the obvious weed and booze answers. Let's remember that mary jane is de criminalized here in MA (ya rly) so there's a certain percentage of the population that have chosen to partake in "weed" use with videogaming. Hadn't considered aderall. That stuff was fantastic around finals time.

One time my brother got the best of me at Karate Champ so I gave him a palm thrust to the face. Bloodied his nose all over the arcade console. Big mess. But, I was able to switch sides and continue the game as if I had won.

I probably would have shoved his nose into his brain killing him instantly if had I been on the juice. Definitely need a congressional hearing at the minimum.
