I have Dark City on Bluray and I have a question about the surround sound. I have the Oppo BDP-83 player and I have the down mix set to 5.1 because I am using the analog outs on the player and my preamp(Outlaw 950) only has 5.1 inputs.
I am not getting any sound from the surround speakers with this setup and this disc. I can't figure out why. When I change the down mix to 7.1 in the Oppo then I can hear surround activity. I should not have to do this though. The 5.1 down mix mode in the Oppo is supposed to send surround back activity to the side surrounds. Thanks for any input.
