Something a little different this time. I used Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 to render and I had the program smooth the videos to reduce the jitter. I selected 1 click of correction and the results are surprisingly good as compared to the originals. Perhaps I'll do a comparison test of clips with the correction as compared to clips without correction one of these days.

does PD7 process 1080p footage without quality lose?
Would definitely be helpful to be able to view the before-correction video to see what the correction did.

I'm interested by this test as well, because I actually use Pinnacle studio 12 but I'm not very satisfied by the result.

I record with my Sanyo at 1920 x 1080p @60fps. PD7 can render to 1920 x 1080p @30fps. The only program I think that can render at 60fps is Adobe Premier CS4 and then only at 1080i not 1080p.
However, I am quite pleased with the results from PD7. It is a very good intermediate level package. Not as many features as Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier but then it has much more than a basic package such as Windows MovieMaker.

The only reason I bought PD7 was because of the stabilizer. Currently recording in 1080p 30fps until they start supporting 60fps. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Did anyone try this or compare it with the Stabilization function in iMovie09??

I'm using PD8 and when i seam to adjust stuff it makes the video's worse. Like making it brighter is a joke, stabilizer is some what decent, but makes the video seem unnatural.

Last night I checked out some pro stabilizer plugins for Final Cut Pro - damn - some of them do an amazing job. But pricey - 149$....

Check out the free Deshaker http://www.guthspot.se/video/deshaker.htm
A very competent plugin for Virtualdub. You have to know how to tweak all settings to get good results, though.
It even reduces CMOS wobble to almost nothing by altering image geometry. A must if you have shaky CMOS video imho.
Most of my videos at http://vimeo.com/user422709/videos are shot handheld and deshaked in post. Sometimes with too stabile settings in Deshaker resulting in minor artefacts at the edges...

Check out the Final Cut plugin from http://www.coremelt.com/. Awesome quality.
Seem that the faster processors of 2009/2010 will mean that we will get this in-camera in the future... :-)

no "anti-shake" software is lossless.
there is no substitute for optical image stabilization.
