Just replaced the bulb on one and there's a problem with the top 20% of the screen--it's darker than the rest of the image.
Anyone have any idea what is causing this? Projector problem or the bulb?

If you still have the old lamp and it's usable, put it back in and see what happens. Or try reseating the new lamp, make sure it is fully inserted. The condition you're describing is caused by a partial obstruction of the light path immediately after the lamp. Is this a factory replacement lamp?
It's going to be the lamp housing, the way it's seated or it could be something in the projector

Yes, I still have it. The one I put in is a supposedly a suitable replacement one from projectorlampexperts.ca.
Thanks for the reply!

"Suitable replacement", maybe not. Especially if it's one of those that someone has refurbished. You don't know if the lamp inside is the right one or even properly installed.
Good luck, given that nothing was wrong prior to replacement, that is the most likely cause. Unless you dropped the projector.

The old bulb doesn't have the dark burnt out banding from the top so it's not the projector. Looks like something with the new bulb.

Compare the housing and the bulb. Something is not the same. It could be that the new lamp is NOT the "suitable replacement" they claimed.

Hmm, it's identical except for the C3-D on the old one and C3-C on the new one.
