I am pretty new to the surround sound world and had a small question.
I have an xbox360 which can put out in 5.1 surround sound. i have a 5.1 speaker system that uses the standard 3.5mm headphone jack as its input, it has a green one a orange one and a black one for the different channels, and i was wondering what receiver could take the xbox's av cable outputs (the red and white audio cables) and output the 5.1 signal into the 3 3.5mm jacks that my speakers use.

please supply the brand and model number for your speaker system. It sounds like a typical computer speaker system.

I guess what is confusing is the three channel input and you say it's a 5.1 system. How are the other two channels and subwoofer channel generated ? Are the 3.5 plugs stereo or do they have an additional "ring" for another contact.
