I'll be coming to the end of the bar build (pics will follow Im sure) and I used birch plywood for the counter tops...Once it's sanded down nice and smooth I'll be looking to seal it...
My question is what did everyone else use to seal their tops? I've heard good things about enviro-tek but cant seem to find too much info on it...

We had an old bar we bought used that had tile for a top layer. I ripped off the tile and cheap wood sides and bought solid oak planks for the top and oak paneling for the sides and front.

We used an oak stain to enhance the natural oak planks and then sealed it all with several coats of polyurethane - looked great then (3 years ago) and looks just like new now and the poly makes a perfect sealer.

Is the poly sealant go on thick? Or is it more of a repelent...

I used enviro-tek on a massive maple bar top. It looks great, and is incredibly durable. It's also easy to apply (if a bit messy) - -just make sure you mix it well.

I highly recommend it.
