Does anyone know if fox is changing the scoreboard for the nfl games like they did for the mlb games this year?

We will know August 21 as that is FOXs 1st game (& its from Cowboys new stadium) unless they wait to the regular season to unveil something new.

With the bar across the screen what they would do is way on the right theyd keep scrolling scores of other games.

If they go this "box" route they would have to:

a) find another place to do that on the screen or
b) just dont show scores of other games which i find it hard to believe they would give less info than before....especially since CBS not only scrolls scores but player stats too.

Typically, you'll see new graphics packages at the end of a sports year, e.g. for NFL at the NFC/AFC Championship, not at the beginning of a television year.

If you've watched Fox' MLB coverage you would see how they have adapted that to the FSN-like graphics. I would expect to see the FSN College Football graphics used.

We can expect that. But the question is what will happen to the game scores of action around the league. The FSN College football coverage only had the update bar on the bottom of the screen. Will Fox have a permanent scoreboard bug of other games?

I sent an email to fox sports to see if they have an answer

NFL on FOX has always been "cutting edge" in terms of their FoxBox. With each new incarnation through the evolution from bug to banner they have been able to incorporate more info. I find it a little hard to believe they would switch back to a simple style box. I would much rather have 1 banner across the top than a scoring bug on top AND a scrolling score and stat update on the bottom a la CBS. Even ESPN doesn't scroll their Bottomline for an entire live game, only at strategically selected times at the top and bottom of the hour.

I would rather have nothing other than a small box with time and score

For MLB coverage they have a little box that pops out to the right of the Fox Box showing other scores. I would expect a similar offering for football. Gone will probably be the days of the other scores plastered on the screen during the entire game. They are very good about only putting the scores up between pitches for baseball.

But that my point. To me thats a step backwards in info & way less than what CBS is doing.

To quote Morty Seinfeld:
"i dont like the sound of that".

You're right I forgot about that. Although I wonder if Fox would keep the scores up during the entire game. Something tells me though that Fox might end up doing was CBS has done in efforts to keep "fantasy viewers" happy with the banner on the bottom of the screen with stats and scores. Who knows though maybe Fox will have a completely new scoreboard bug or banner specifically for its football coverage.

I'd be happy if they just stopped playing those annoying sound effects when the info on the bar changes. Same goes for CBS for that matter.

I don't recall Fox ever having a persistent scroll of scores/stats from around the league like CBS does. Frankly it's the one thing Fox does better than CBS.

(in kramer voice) Well your recall is way off then. :D

FOX does a constant scroll of scores, just not stats....on the far right side of the scorebar....in fact during baseball season they even given baseball scores.

Im talkin HD....not SD.

I very much agree. Why do we need all the other crap plastered on the tv all the freaking time?

We don't. But its inevitable that it will show up on the screen.

It's been confirmed to me the answer is no.

It's been confirmed to me the answer is no.That's a shame. Watching NCAA football on FSN this past season was a delight.

Exactly.
When I first flipped to an FSN game. I was disoriented for a few seconds, what happened to my tv? Oh wait a second, there are no bars, tickers, sound effects, bugs, snipes, dancing robots, fantasy stats, Dancing With The Stars promos, etc.... Just a beautiful full screen of HD goodness. Ahhhhh....

Unlike CBS, Fox doesn't show any additional info to HD viewers. Everything is 4:3 safe.
