Hey guys, I just picked up a Philips SPP4200WA surge protector/power conditioner. It measures: 4.6 x 20.2 x 18.5 inches and is rack-mountable. I just am not sure where I can put it. My stand has 2 shelves on it: the first is occupied by my surround sound receiver, which doesn't leave enough room on either side to place the conditioner; the second has my PS3 and 360. Would it be safe to place the 360 on top of the power conditioner?

What I would rather do is place the conditioner underneath the stand. Would this be safe to do? The conditioner would be on carpet this way. If putting it on carpet wouldn't be safe, could I place a piece of cardboard or thin wood under it? Does it need a lot of ventilation on top?

thanks in advance for any advice...

I couldn't find any great pictures of that power center online. I could only get top views...which didn't appear to show much venting. I would assume from the picture I saw that the venting is on the underside or bottom. That would not bode well for putting it on carpet. If this is the base, then having the 360 on top should cause much issue, but you would want to make sure wherever the vents are located have space to circulate air.

Can you take any more pictures from different angles and post them?

I see no vents on the bottom of the unit. It's just solid metal. I went ahead and cut out a piece of the cardboard box that is just smaller than the unit and placed it on that, underneath the stand.

I would just monitor it for heat and adjust as necessary.
