gameboy 07-14-09, 05:08 PM Just announced...

"The decision to delay the release of BioShock 2 was made in order to provide more time for development and to ensure that the quality of the game was up to par, the company said. BioShock 2 is one of the company's most highly anticipated games and an important part of efforts to build new franchises to complement the Grand Theft Auto series of games.
The company did not specify a new release date for BioShock 2, but spokesman Alan Lewis said it would be released in the first half of calendar 2010."
TakeTwo shares got hammered today because of this.
pcweber111 07-14-09, 05:50 PM Something seems fishy. I don't like it.
formulanerd 07-14-09, 05:58 PM who wants to compete around november? it's scary, i know with forza 3 occupying my time until MW2 hits, i wouldnt have any time for bioshock anyway (and i'm a fan!)
Eddie Horton 07-14-09, 06:08 PM My wife is gonna be pissed. I'll be disappointed, but some Forza 3 should help.
Ramsrule 07-15-09, 07:17 AM with some of the crapiest code I've ever come across in the video game world being released "on-time" (see Farcry2 and Race Pro), I have no issues with this as long as they get the job done correctly.
Also as stated above, the last quarter of the calander year is a tough time to compete in, so this is probably a smart move by them.
Please devs, no more bug-fests!!
dogmanky 07-16-09, 09:57 AM absence makes the heart grow fonder. I'm still pumped! I may play through it again.. this time as an azzwhole. :D
Evangelo2 07-16-09, 10:45 AM I'm ok with this for 2 reasons as well. First and foremost, I'd rather have the game done the proper way than rushed and have it earlier. Secondly, I still have games I haevn't finished (Halo3, Gears2, Halo Wars) and I plan to get Forza 3 and COD-MW2 so that should keep me busy for the holiday season. Damn, I wish I had a little more time to play Dead Space as well :)

mbyrnes 07-16-09, 09:46 PM Dead Space is great. I can't recommend it enough. The scariest game I have played in a LONG time. The surround effects are what make it. If you have a nice surround system this is a must own. When people tell me Left4Dead is scary I laugh. They have no idea.
So many times in Dead Space I literally was shaking, hoping they wouldn't get me. Definitely gets the heart pumping. Bioshock has similar effects, DeadSpace just magnifies it a ton.
pcweber111 07-16-09, 10:38 PM Yeah Deadspace is one of the best games I've played in the past 5 years. Trully amazing sense of enveloping you in it's enviroment.
Fragster 07-17-09, 11:04 AM This is what happens when you add multiplayer to a single player game. I already know the second one won't be as good as the original but I'll still be buying it cos I luved the original and played it twice on 360 and once on PC.

Couldn't agree more with what the others have said about Dead Space. Dump Halo 3 and play DS instead.
hotdogwater2 07-17-09, 12:21 PM i'm still trying to gather up the guts to play DS some more...
mbeiler 07-17-09, 01:45 PM Anyone who thinks this is a bad thing doesn't appreciate quality games. With the exception of games like Uncharted2 or Modern Warfare2, which are finished months before release, most holiday games are garbage and released around 80% completion with very little testing, just to hit the shelves before the holiday spike.
Horray for 2k for letting the dev finish the game before releasing it.
armybonzola 07-17-09, 01:50 PM Dead space was a huge dissapointment. The only game that really creeped me out and is still probably my most favorite overall game was Silent Hill 2
mproper 07-17-09, 04:08 PM I wonder if this has anything to do with the multiplayer component (you know, the one that is completely unnecessary for Bioshock and will be played for 2 weeks before everyone goes back to COD:MW2).
Nah, I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.
gameboy 07-17-09, 05:47 PM They try to explain the delay...
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=24475
"Talking to Gamasutra in a major new interview, BioShock creator Ken Levine has suggested that 2K Boston's unannounced current project is "substantially more ambitious" than that seminal title."
BOSS10L 07-19-09, 08:02 PM I'm disappointed, but would rather wait until the game is polished as best as it can be rather than have something rushed out just to meet some deadline.
WizarDru 07-20-09, 11:48 AM Dead space was a huge dissapointment. The only game that really creeped me out and is still probably my most favorite overall game was Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 2 is so scary, I should take a court order out against it. :D
I'd be disappointed at a delay except for two things:
1) I don't have high hopes for Bioshock 2. I'd like to be proven wrong, but we'll see.
2) The holiday season IS too crowded. I'd rather producers release games more evenly, instead of bunch up all the releases and force me to play favorites.
Scottyb09 07-20-09, 01:06 PM I'm glad that this game is delayed, just as I was glad when GTAIV was delayed. There are simply too many triple-A titles released during the Holidays and I like my games spread out a little more. I hope the team takes as much time as they need to provide an experience at least equivalent to Bioshock 1.
