Could some of you knowledgable ISF Techs please suggest what peak white levels you would be aiming for on the KRP500M if critical viewing is performed with an ambient light level measured at the screen of approx. 2ftL.

Also could you comment on the granularity of the 9-point gamma controls accessed via ControlCal - as I found them to be very coarse, virtually unusable for fine tuning (but I am new to this DIY cal lark:confused:). My screen was manufactured in 2009, purchased and installed in the UK.

One final question, the PURE mode allows different settings to be stored for many different resolutions/refresh rates all being applied via a single HDMI lead (I route all my inputs through an Onkyo 876). Do the ISF Day/Night/Auto modes also store different settings for various resolutions? Also, what does ISF Auto actually do? Does it make use of the in-built room light sensor? (I have that disabled - unneccessary gimmick).

All comments gratefully recieved:)

General range for critical viewing is 30-40fL with many at the lower end of that range (just depends on your environment). Even <30fL, again, just depends.

The 9 Point Gamma Control range is -5 to +5 for all 9G Models with ISFccc... coarse but are useful with proper use (it takes times). If you have one ISFccc memory at >38 fL, try setting all Gamma Controls to -1. Some like to have a different gamma for the low end vs the high end as well.

The ISFccc Memories are static memories, not Input Signal sensitive... With the Monitors, you do get the best of both, Memories by Input Signal (you can't manually select which is used and they can cycle) and Static Memories (you choose and they are valid for any Input Signal).

Many like to use the isf Day / isf Night memories for critical viewing / more light output, different Pure Cinema Settings (all other settings the same between the two ISFccc Memories) or different color temps between the two (even for the same Input Signal).

isf Auto uses the light sensor (isf Night and isf Day do not) - isf Auto info Here (http://www.controlcal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89)

Greetings

Follow the three steps to setting contrast to arrive at the needed light output.

Clipping ... discoloration ... eye fatigue.

Maybe it ends up in the 30- 40 fL range ... maybe it doesn't.

On my European 500M I can manually set the RGB-gain/cuts in the user menu. Will I loose my individually calibrated RGB if I cycle the modes manually?

If a player has moore than three different resolutions, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and finally 1080p, and I cycle thru them, I will loose my settings?

Hope you understand what I mean...:o

480p, 720p, 1080i, and finally 1080p,
You should be fine since that would be only 4 memories :D

Okey. So my memories are static? Even if it is in the users menu? I was under the impression that one input only could hold three different settings?

I must doing something wrong here. Sometimes I loose settings when i change resolution.

Ok. must test now. Thanks!
