I was thinking about this recently. How many XGs did you guys sell? It has been so long that I can't believe that the info would need to be secret. Anyway, I was just curious as to how many NECs are out there roaming around.:)

Good question. I do not have a number but we sold quit a few, no...a lot. I use to drag those things all by myself to the airport in the back of my van. The United Airline guys hated to see me coming. They bitched because the things were so dame heavy, they were great bunch of guys. Ahh the simple days:)
At the end when NEC closed the doors on the technology I got a surprise knock at the office door, it was someone from NEC with a truck load of parts projectors and parts for inventory for free. They were a great company. Sad to see that era come to an end.

I was curious, because I wanted to know how many potential parts machines as well as whole machines may still be out there. I have been thinking that the XGs and Marquees may be the best bet for anyone in the Americas still looking to get into CRTs.

I'm curious about xg lc's. I have a 1350, but this sickness tells me I need a lc version.

At the very end, AVS had a batch for sale and I bought mine for, I think, $6500 NIB. This was the XG-1352LC.

It was my second projector, going from a Sony D50Q, and what a machine. Even now, when projector technology and PFP (price for performance) has leaped forward, that price is still pretty good.

A great machine, and still a great deal.

I bought my 1352LC from the last power buy back in 2001. It is still a great pj and a joy to work on it.
PQ is still better than my JVC clone FPJ1 except lumen.

I am the second owner of what I believe was an AVS purchased XG-852. I bought it from a local guy here and he claimed to have purchased it several years ago and was replacing with a 1080p digital projector. The XG is working nicely in my room.

Save for a couple of system boards, I've never had to scrap any boards from an XG set, they were all repairable. Now, finding mint tubes at this point without rebuilding or buying new, THERE'S a challenge. :D

No worries. I've literally got a TON of boards, do I really need to post another picture? I scrapped a bunch of boards myself from pre 1990 sets about 6 months ago to make room, and I'm out.. again.

Hammerhead was nice enough to send me a bunch of NOS NEC stuff that they couldn't sell about a year ago, I swapped them for some Barco quads or something. turns out I won't ever use the stuff either, it's little inductors, chokes, transformers that never fail. But you know the packrat I am, I can't throw it away... must...keep...in...stock. :)

I still think that if I got no more sets in on trade from today on, I've got enough parts here (save for tubes) that I can keep most people going for the next 5-10 years, and unless someone down the road snags a 2007 vintage MArquee via surplus, no one will be running their CRTs in 10 years.

I would believe that video projection would be in a realm of inky blacks and longer life than any bulb machine, and a rich picture by then.

There's a lot to be said about tweaking though. I mean heck, why do audiophiles run tube equipment, that always need tube changes and bias adjustments? ;)

Hi guys by reading the comments mentioned above i am very curious, if i join the AVS club can i do some good sales here for new and used products? What is the potential of selling over here?
