I need to drop my ceiling to get around some drain pipes. However, I want to cleverly minimize the drop and build a frame at the lowest level of the pipes (and not directly underneath them) and hang the drywall so there will be mimimal clearance between the drywall and the drain pipes.

My concern is how/if I should protect the drain pipes from accidental puncture in the future. Normally you see a steel plate covering pipes when they're to close to the surface of a stud to prevent puncture. Should I put some aluminum or metal plating between the drywall and the drain pipes to prevent puncture? If so, will it vibrate too much when the volume is turned up?
