The lamp in my VPL-VW60 black pearl projector has about 1500 hours, and it is noticeably dimming, so it's time for a new bulb. I see there are discounted bulbs available for about $250 out there (versus the $350-$400 for the authentic Sony bulbs). Has anyone had experience with these cheaper bulbs? Do they have comparable performance? Brightness? Life? Reliability?
Just wondering if it is worth saving $100 or so...

Hi,
I may be wrong but I believe the bulb you can buy from here (AVS) for roughly $250 is the same part as what you could pay more for elsewhere.
I haven't been able to buy a spare/replacement bulb for my VW60 yet.

$259. :)
hey hey hey!!! no talking about pricing here!!! VIOLATION!! VIOLATION!!! :D
My VW60 has about 2,100 hours with the original lamp. I DO recall getting a "clean filter" message but do NOT remember ever getting any message to replace the lamp. Am I OK or do I need to replace it anyway?
Cheers,
Jack
Jack---did you ever get an answer to your question? I have the same message on my Black Pearl.
