i have the oppportunity to purchace this projector and haven't been able to find anything about it over the internet. what are your thoughts about this projector. any pros or cons.

I wouldn't... It's a pretty old model, with very low contrast ratio, dated set of connections, XGA resolution and at 8.1 lbs it's pretty heavy.

Not to mention that Philips exited the North American projector market a few years ago, so should you need service or accessories you'll have to rely on questionable places.
