Hi,
Anyone have opinions or reviews of the new WD My Book World Edition II NAS? I hear its newly released. I'm looking at the 4TB model.

I'd like to use it for backup of our home network; 4 PCs. As well as being able to stream video to the XBOX360.

I think this is a new model that adds many features the older models didn't have such as Win XP support, RAID, etc.

Thanks,
Steve

For that kind of money, a Windows Home Server would be a much better proposition. Since you're streaming video to a 360, you're going to need something to transcode the video for you (Xbox codec support is very limited). A WHS box can do that, but a NAS can't. The automated backup functionality built into WHS is also very good.

This (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16859321013) plus two of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148412) would still give you 4TB of storage for about $600, but with all the added benefits of WHS and the capability for much more expansion down he road (1 internal bay, 4 USB, and 1 eSATA versu just one USB on the My Book).
