I have an offer to be able to buy an INFOCUS X10, brand new sealed in the box for $1000. Should I jump on this or wait til CEDIA? Thanx everyone

I've got the X10 and I personally think that it's a great deal, especially at that offer. If you wait, you may have to wait even past cedia, as that's when they'll announce things, but it'll probably be another few weeks past that till they're available. Plus I don't see the x10 going any lower in price than what you're being offered. Check out the x10 owners thread on here, lots of good info.

I guess I really should have asked this first, what's the purpose for this projector and what type of room will it be in (lighting, dimensions, etc.)??

Ive read the X10 thread and love what I hear, its going to be mostly for movies, (I just sold my IN72), lighting is no problem. My throw is somewhat long and it seems to be infocus that can accomadate my needs, and the X10 seems to meet all my requirements. $1000 seems to be good

Is it from an authorized dealer with a warranty? If not, I would pass.

Yes it is. It is a legit deal. Curious can you register your product at INFOCUS? I didnt see a place on their web site to do so. I bought my IN72 from a friend and new there was no warranty. This is brand new how do you start your warranty with INFOCUS, Im pulling the trigger Monday and buying it!

If it's new and from a legit authorized retailer, you just fill out the registration card and send it in I guess. I don't think there's any big deal as long as you can show you got it from someone they sell direct to.

im somewhat looking for a new projector to replace my screen play 4805 when the bulb goes out,

Would I notice a huge difference going from my 480 p screenplay to this x 10?

I notice the contrast isnt as high as the $2200- $3000 projectors, but I dont have that much money lol

It should be a huge improvement.

K, I wish I had somehwere around me that had projectors set up ,l

I have only seen about 4 projectors in person , including the one that I own .

I could afford $1000 for an x 10 ,

even though the contrast isnt very high , , compared to 480 p , Im thinking I should see a huge difference to.

espeacailly with my ps3 and blu ray movies.

Something for me to think about I guess,

I try to stay away from the forum cause I get antsy, and I am a compulsive buyer, and to be honest, I have champagne taste with beer money lol.,

Ive been reading about the new benq 6000 coming out ,

a 60,000 ratio? that might have been a misprint though on the website

This is just great why do I log in here life just gets complicated everytime I do.

The benq w6000 is already out just when I thought I was pulling the trigger on the x10..
All you experts kindly digest the specs of this one and please compare it to the X10 is this benq that much better will I see a better picture which is better for hdtv and sports and then I will stop reading about the projectors and pick one of these up...

It doesn't appear to be a "fair" comparison as the X10 is +/-1200 and this BenQ is +/-2700, 2000 MORE... so of course it's going to be better. Comparing burgers to steaks. From all my years loitering here, the one thing I have seen that stays consistent, you do get what you pay for. Just depends on how critical of what you look for in a projector you are.

If i had the money, it would be hard pressed to choose between the benq and the Epson 6500.

btw... here's the Benq thread...

Benq and epson 6500 hope your talking about the w6000.
In your opinion w6000 and the X10 are they completely in a differant league when it comes to picture quality.

I just saw an X10 and viewed an entire movie on it with the whole family...

Picture was very very good way better than the epson 6500 which I saw today as well no comparison frankly why bother with a lcd projector is what I said to myself.

Offset problems are not a problem at this store his ceiling were 7 feet and the screen was about 8 inches from the top...Image was 100 diagonal the owner said he keystoned it all the picture still looks excellent....Looked just like if you were at the theatres.. No rainbow effect at all.

I only have 1 issue with it trying to work around it maybe by building a hushbox or something...Say what you wanna say my hearing is not very good and that projector in bright mode is freakin louddddddd...Almost like a Ps3 but not quite as loud the rating says it's 33 db in bright mode there is no way that is correct its louder...But when you use the economy mode it is a lot less quieter and frankly switching between the modes I didnt know notice a significant better picture...This projector can be used in
economy mode all the time.

I haven't seen an X10, but did own an Epson 6500UB. Are you really sure that the X10 had better PQ than the 6500UB as the 6500UB was pretty amazing?
