I think my problem is in the control.

My 3 lcd rptv (Hitachi 50VS69A) wont turn off blue pixels when switching to black.

To test my set I connected a laptop and sent full screen colours

Blue to Black = Blue
Cyan to Black = Dark Blue
Magenta to Black = Dark Blue

Red to Black = Black
Green to Black = Black
Yellow to Black = Black

Blue to Red = Red
Blue to Green = Green
Blue to Yellow = Yellow


My thoughts are:
If my blue lcd was going I should see a blue saturation in all colours, but its just affecting black. therefore the controller isn't telling the blue pixels to turn off when switching to black.

I was also thinking: Perhaps the colour ramps are off, how do I adjust this?

Anyhow, looking forward to comments.

Post pictures of the Tv screen with various content with/without Tv menus.

I didn't have time to take them yesterday, but I have them on my camera now.

Note: the blue blur is not noticeable by eye, the camera picked it up though.
it was noticeable by eye until I swapped the blue and green polarized filter

Pic 1 -3 = Random Stuff
Pic 4 = Opened the menu on a blank input (my brightness is turned up due to my bulb reaching its end and dulling)
Pic 5 = Zoomed in on the menu
Pic 6 = After letting the menu sit for about 1min , the blue part stuck
Pic 7 -8 = After switching back to cable the stuck image is gone
Pic 9 = Random Stuff
Pic 10 = Opened the menu on cable input
Pic 11 = Zoomed in on the menu
Pic 12 = Once again I let it sit for about 1min, nothing stuck
Pic 13 - 16 = More random stuff
Pic 17 = I left the tv on bravo for about 1min then switched to a blank input
Pic 18 = Look how clear that stuck logo is

When something gets stuck it will stay there forever if I stay on a blank input, but as soon as the tv gets something to display it clears right up.

Looks like the optical block / light engine is fading / discoloring. This is a very expensive fix, more than the Tv is worth.

that sucks, its out of warranty but only 2.75 years old

Does the fact I swapped the blue and green polarized filter, and it removed the blob from naked eye (except on black) give hope to replacing a few filters to fix?
what about just replacing the panel used for blue?

I have the patients to fix this just not the cash to replace.

I have removed/replaced the polarized filter on a transparent desk clock (to invert it) and on Serial LCD modules.

More power to you. In home service techs do not perform such things because it's way to time consuming and too many things can go wrong during the procedure. These things are only done by the factory, by optical block rebuild specialists, or by some brave (or stupid) servicer that hauls your Tv away for 5 weeks and tinkers with it for hours on end.
