**I posted the below on the Paradigm owner's thread and then thought it may not be the right place. Anyway, I have been a little out of the speaker space for some time and doing this a little on inpulse so wanted to see what folks here, who may be more familair than me, felt about these speakers and this deal in general

These speakers would be powered by a Denon 2808CI

Current speakers (front/Surround/Centre)-
Paradigm Phantom v2 / Atoms / CC 170 (nearly 9 years old)

Upgrading to (front/Surround/Centre) -
Paradigm Monitor 9 v2/ ADP 350 / CC 350 (nearly 10 years old)

1) I would use these to listen to 50% music and 50% movies in a fairly large family room. Is there a considerable difference in quality in the Montior 9's over the Phantom's?

2) Does the price of $350 for the above package seem like a good buy? I thought it was but again, I am not very faimiliar with the price of used equipment.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

I think there would be a fair amount of difference by getting Monitor 9s as well as the rest of the package. If all the speakers are functioning and in good shape, it isn't a horrible deal. You can always offer less and go from there.

Just take a good look at the speaker drivers or if this is an internet auction deal, make sure you can return them if you're not satisfied with the condition.

As a point of reference a new pair of Monitor 9s will probably set you back $850, give or take.

Thanks for the input. I bit the bullet and purchased it and will be picking these up on Saturday...
Per the seller these are in excellent shape and the pictures of the drivers and cones show speakers that were well cared for... lets see...
