I was planning on getting a NAD C315BEE Amplifier and getting a pair of Mackie Tapco S8 Speakers. (if you google the products the sites have images of the products if this is helpful)
This is gonna be my first "proper" audio setup and I wanted to know if these can be hooked up?
I haven't purchased them yet (need to wait a few months 'til I have the cash) so I can't try to figure it out my self.
Also if they are compatible are their any cables I would need, in particular to connect an iPod or Laptop to the amp to play my iTunes library.
Thanks in advance

They can be used together, but it's not a logical choice. The speakers have their own amplifiers, so you don't need a separate amplifier to drive them, just a preamp (for volume control and inputs). You can use the NAD as a preamp, but you're wasting its amplifier section.

Seems like an odd pairing, how did you decide on these. Why do you want active monitors? Most people buy them for specific reasons. You have some nice bookshelf speakers in the same price range you could use with that amplifier.

To be perfectly honest I know pretty much nothing about audio setups
I just picked these speakers cos they looked cool
If you could impart your wisdom on me and show me some better suited speakers that would be brilliant (budget around £200 for speakers)
Also concerning the amp, what would i need to connect a laptop to it?

Your best bet would be to spend some time reading posts in the 2 channel audio section. The guys in there will know the most about 2 channel amps. Also read some posts in the speaker section. Most posts there are for surround sound, but some are 2 channel also.
Once you have researched a bit, I'd post a new entry in the two channel audio section. Make a list of your exact requirements and what you plan on connecting. The more info you can include in the post the more help you will get. Also what type of music you will listen to and any speakers you have heard or owned that you liked or disliked. Don't forget to include your budget. Include where you are also, since that may determine what's easily available.

Thanks for the help and advice
I shall return once I have found myself with a better idea

Most of us would frown on picking speakers because they "look cool." We're more interested in how they sound. (Our wives, on the other hand, are interested in how "invisible" they look.)
My suggestions:
1) Set an overall budget, and figure on devoting the better part of your budget to speakers.
2) Go out and listen to speakers, and find something you like.
I can't help you too much with models, because I don't know the UK market.
As for hook-ups, simple 1/8" stereo to 1/4" RCA cables should suffice.
