I have been reading manuals, searching on-line, etc. for the best way to hook up my components. What is the the best way to wire my system. Seems like everything I read is for pieces or parts but not the whole set-up.
I have a Panasonic TC-54PS14 HDTV
Comcast DCT 3416 HD DVR Cable Box
Onkyo TX-SR604 Receiver
Sony DVD/VCR SLV D370P
We also have a Wii
I can't figure out what wires to use (HDMI, Optical, Digital, etc) and what should go where. Comcast to tv, Comcast to Onkyo, etc.

One feature I have always wanted to try on the Onkyo was the late night function but it only works with dolby digital.

I think I'd prefer to use the comcast remote. I have it programed to turn everything on and the volume "sticks" to the receiver regardless of the device I am using. The onkyo doesn;t shut off with the comcast remote, but I've learned to deal with it.

Component or hdmi from DVD to receiver. Hdmi or component from receiver to TV. Hdmi from cable to receiver. Optical from DVD to receiver. Standard rca from VCR to receiver and the hdmi should carry that signal to the TV.

Buy all the cables from monoprice.com. They are good and cheap from there. Don't buy any cable whose name rhymes with bonster.
