Hey guys,

I'm having a frustrating issue that I hope someone here can help advise me on.

I have a Panny AE900U, and I just replaced the bulb a few weeks ago. (This is actually the second bulb replacement but I don't know if that's relevant or not. I'll include the details below.) I've noticed since then that the brightness flickers on the unit, meaning that while viewing the brightness will noticeably pop up or down a little bit every minute to few minutes. To be perfectly honest, I'm not 100% positive if this issue was happening before the bulb was replaced or not; I think I was kind of ignoring any issues because I knew the bulb needed to be replaced but I don't RECALL it being this bad.

Anyway, I've done the usual checks/fixes: Dynamic Iris is off. Lamp power is on high. Nothing else in the menus indicates anything strange. Yet the problem persists. At this point I'm not sure if I should get a new bulb, take the unit in for repair, or what.

Help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Possibly Extraneous Bulb Replacement Details:
My original bulb has needed replacement for several months. The first replacement bulb I had a strange burning smell for the first hour or so I used it, and over time I noticed that colors were very strange. I determined it was related to the bulb and got it exchanged, which the company who sold it to me dragged their feet on. This is now the second replacement bulb.

Is there another choice for lamp power besides high? If so try changing it and see if that stops the problem. If it still happens I would exchange the bulb again.

The only other setting is Low. I'll give it a shot.

On mine I found flickering worse on low.

This is definately a lamp issue, I'm having the same issue with my 2K hour old lamp in my Sony A3000. On mine the issue goes away mostly if set on high power, but the fact this is happening on a new bulb for you, means you should definately ask for an exchange, or a refund. Do you mind saying who you bought the bulb from? No worries if you'd rather not say. This is inherent to all UHP lamps, but shouldn't happen atleast until after a year or two of use.

there are flicker adjustments in the service menu. here is a post in the tweak thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=8093508&highlight=flicker#post8093508).

i'd think you could prob find some more detail on how to make the adjustments using the service menu if you search in that thread.

good luck
