I’m re-wiring my home for Charter. I have a two way split (TV/ modem) followed by an 8 way split to homerun lines.

I have NOT signed up for the Charter yet service, however I’m anticipating there might be a signal problem with the 8 split. I would like to buy an amplifier ahead of time so I can test everything out while the cable contractor is at my residence doing the hookup.

Can anyone recommend a good amplifier for my situation? I already have a passive 8-way splitter.

The reason I want to test this out while the contractor is present, the two way split is in the demarcation box which I don’t have access to (Charter’s property). My home has two coaxial lines coming in. If possible, I would like to have the option of removing this split.

If you subscribe to a cableco for TV and Internet, they will install and service/support "their" equipment/installation only. Whatever you do in your home (after those drops) is on you. Typically, they always add a two-way splitter for each drop (TV/modem). You may or may not run into support problems down the road if you don't let them install the 2-way.

Point 2:
You may want to consider having the cableco provide the 8-way splitter or distribution amp (for whatever fee they charge). This way, when/if you have issues, it's supported.

I would assume that any installer/contractor will only support what is on the work order and may not "test" 8 additional drops without a charge.

The MA2-M has only 1 output. The 3 ports are in, out, power. The 2 output is the MA2-2PN

There's usually nothing to review, the work order shows what services you pay/paid for on every appointment you have. Contractors especially aren't going to fix problems with equipment you installed without charging you for it.
