I'm attempting to hook my surround sound into my xtremegamer sound card in my pc. However, i don't have the correct cables to do the hook up so i need to know what I should order to be able to hook it up.
This is the surround sound system I have:
Google:
Philips HTS3440 - home theater system - 5.1 channel
and select the cnet review to get some good specs
And this is the sound card i have:
Search NewEgg For: XtremeGamer
I'm guessing the only way to hook it up is to run a cable from the dvd to player to my computer. But it would be optimal to bypass the dvd player because I honestly just want to use the speakers with my computer. What cable do i need to get to have full surround sound from my computer to these speakers?
I've looked at this:
Google: sound blaster digital i/o module
select first return (Creative Audio)
However, from what i'm reading it only works with the xtremegamer pro and i just have the basic xtremegamer.
Thanks.

From what I can tell the Phillips system has a digital coax input. Your sound card seems to be just 2.0, not a 5.1 soundcard. You would need to find a soundcard with 5.1 digital coax out or optical out. Optical out would need to be converted to coax with one of these.

Thete are some USB soundcards that can do the optical out that are not too expensive. Are there any other audio inputs on the Phillips besides digital coax?
I was looking on creatives website at the technical specifications for the sound card and it said this:
24-bit Digital-to-Analog conversion of digital sources at 96kHz to analog 7.1 speaker output
And this is what it said on connectivity:
Connectivity
Speaker and Headphone connections for stereo to 7.1 (Line Out via three 3.5mm mini jacks)
Line In / Microphone In / Optical Out* (shared 3.5mm FlexiJack)
Auxiliary Line level Input (via 4-pin Molex connector)
Intel HD Audio Compatible Front Panel Header (2x5pin)
* Optical Out supports stereo SPDIF out and pass through of
multichannel DVD sound
As far as the surround sound i'll have to double check when i get home but this is what cnet lists:
DVD player / radio tuner : 1.0 x FM antenna ( RCA phono x 2 ) , DVD player / radio tuner : 1.0 x Rear channel output ( RCA phono x 3 ) , DVD player / radio tuner : 1.0 x Audio input , DVD player / radio tuner : 1.0 x AM antenna , DVD player / radio tuner : 2.0 x Digital audio output (coaxial) , DVD player / radio tuner : 1.0 x Front channel output , DVD player / radio tuner : 1.0 x Composite video output , DVD player / radio tuner : 1.0 x S-Video output , DVD player / radio tuner : 1.0 x Component video output , DVD player / radio tuner : 2.0 x Subwoofer output , DVD player / radio tuner : 2.0 x Center channel audio output

The analog out is probably 3 headphone jack outputs that, with the appropriate cable adapters, will be analog rca outputs. These are only useful if you wish to hookup the sound card by way of analog inputs, if your receiver supports multichannel analog in, which i don't think your receiver supports.
So you need to go the digital route, and your current card only supports 2 channel optical out. So you will need a new sound card to get 5.1 surround sound.

Edit: never mind I just read jarrods post above about the optical out being just two channels. Your best bet would be to buy a cheap USB sound card with 5.1 optical.
Just read more on the Sound card. You do have an optical out, they call it a flexport. That means that one of the plugs actually has an optical output inside.
Flexijack: Line In / Microphone In / Optical Outš via shared 3.5mm mini jack
You will need one of these to plug into the correct mini jack. Do you have the manual, it should be in there?

So this will now give you a digital optical out. Your receiver only has coax digital in, so you will need the converter that I linked before. Then you will need 1 optical toslink cable and one coax cable. Buy the optical from monoprice, couple bucks. For the coax cable you can just use a regular RCA cable. Now you will pass 5.1 audio correctly.
Or if the DVD player has COAX digital out, just hook that up directly to the receiver, it doesn't necessarily have to go through the PC. Of course this model breaks down as soon as u try to play any 5.1 contents from the HDD.
