Help!

I am trying to set up a new AV Receiver (a Denon AVR 790).

When I run an HDMI cable from my cable box to the HDTV, the picture is fine.

When I run the HDMI through the AV Receiver and then out to the HDTV, the sound through the receiver is fine, but the picture gets snowy every 5 seconds or so and sometimes blacks out all together.

I tried replacing the HDMI cables with no luck.

Any other suggestions? Is something wrong with the receiver?

I hooked up my Blu-Ray player fine through the new receiver and a rock steady picture and sound from it.

Is there something preventing my cable box from communicating with my receiver?

Did my cable box (suddenly) go bad? That would be an odd coincidence.

Try connecting the cable box to the DVD input on the receiver and see what happens.

I took your suggestion and connected the cable through the DVD input on the receiver.

the picture now comes in fine.

(though there seems to be a slight delay in the audio.)

does this mean that there's something wrong with the receiver's cable input connection?
