Hello all

Just was wondering if this is the correct and best form for transition to converter box TV reception issues?

If not, could someone tell which one is the best.

Thanks.

You're close, try the CECB section one deeper.

Hello Matt and thanks for the reply

Just to check and perhaps I should made this clearer but, this is one of those issues where a friends parents had perfectly fine 2-13 analog before and now that have the converter box and only can pick up like 3 channels.

The channels they do get seem to be working just fine so I don't think its the box itself thats the problem per say but an antenna capability issue but again I don't know anything about this particular area of AV.

Thanks

As Matt sugested please go to the CECB sub forum for assistance. Most likely many of your friends parents digital channels are on UHF channels now so their old VHF only antenna can not receive them. Check antennaweb.org for their addresse and see what is reccomended for the digital channels.
Also make sure they rescanned for digital channels since the middle of June when the final cutover occured.

In that case I'd say this is the place to ask. Antennas and reception issues are a common topic in this forum, and they're the same for digital TV whether it's via an HDTV or a converter box.

To get good advice on antenna issues, first go to tvfool.com to get detailed information about the signals that are available to your friends' parents. Use the "Check Your Address for Free TV" option, and enter their address. (Better would be the exact latitude and longitude if you can find that out.) The results include a link that you can copy and paste into a posting here so other people can see them. It won't show the address, in order to preserve privacy.

You should also tell us something about their current antenna setup: indoor or outdoor, which channels they can actually get now, which channels they want to be able to get, etc.

It's the correct form, but the wrong forum. ;)
