I have a Westinghouse W4207 LCD TV that does not have a built in tuner of any sort.

Do they make an NTSC, ATSC, QAM tuner box that I can use?

I only have basic analog cable (26 NTSC channels) and would also like to receive OTA HD (ATSC) channels.
I also heard a rumor that Time Warner broadcasts QAM HD OTA channels over this same basic analog cable... so I would like to get the QAM portion as well, just in case.

I figured I could Google "NTSC, ATSC, QAM tuner" and get a ton of products, but there doesn't seem to be any!

Is there a reason for that? The only ones I can find are PC cards (PCI, USB, etc).

Thanks!

You may need to go the used route.

That would probably work...but $265!!!

Ouch! I would rather upgrade to Digital HDTV Cable for that price.

Hmmm... Interesting. It doesn't appear to do standard cable (NTSC)

I found this one from the same category that appears to: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815260010 for the same price.

I wonder how good the quality is?

This item is useless!!

This television receiver has only an analog broadcast tuner and will require a converter box after February 17, 2009, to receive over-

If you can live without surround sound and have component video inputs the device mentioned above will do the trick.

If not I would search the used markets for the Samsung and I believe LG made a few external tuners a few years ago.

Lastly pay the cable-co to rent a box!!

Good luck with it.

I called Time Warner to see if they offered an external tuner.
Of course, they are 100% ignorant as to what an external tuner is.

First, they say that they do not have the converter box for OTA HD.
Then they try to upgrade my cable to a digital package.

After I tell them that I need a box to convert my current analog NTSC cable to a non-coaxial format (S-Video, Component, HDMI, etc), they said that I have to upgrade my cable.

Does anyone know if they actually have an external tuner box that doesn't require using their digital cable?

Apparently this DirectTV receiver will receive ATSC and NTSC, without a DirectTV subscription.

I found one on eBay for $30 shipped.
