I have been looking for cheaper sconce alternatives and came across this one at IKEA (Santir wall uplight] http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00088984

Its only 6 bucks and since the acrylic has a yellowish tinge, it should work with my brown walls. You could even put two together side-by-side- I think that should look very elegant. I am hoping that it can be used with a dimmer. I am also planning to paint the metal a darker shade than my side-walls.

I will post photos once my media room is up and running with these lights.

I used those lights in the bathroom I created when I finished my basement. Be warned - they're made to be mounted directly to a wall without a box (not sure if this is even ok code-wise). If you want to use a standard round box and light mounting hardware like I did you will have to drill the mount holes in the back of the light.

I purchased and used these in my basement home theatre last year. Like the other poster said beware of the mounting, these lights do not use standard electrical boxes so they were a bit of a hassle to mount on the wall's.
I used eight of them and they look pretty dang nice I also purchased some spots from Ikea that are pointed down at the screen the sconces and the floods are on a lutron controller.
That project ate my winter up last year this year I plan on just enjoying the completed room.

Here is my post from last year http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=14996774&highlight=#post14996774
