Anyone hear how Mark's surgery went Monday...??

I had a long talk with Mark on Sunday to wish him well. Monday he had a catheterization. Assuming blockage(s) were found, he was to have bypass surgery Tuesday. As he has diabetes, stent(s) were not an appropriate choice for any blockage(s). He said when he feels up to it he will post. I will call him but wait until this weekend, I don't want to bother him. Mark really appreciates all the care and concern folks here at the Big Boys Toys Forum have shown him.

I've been friends with Mark ever since the 1st AVS CES Party, January 2000, an informal get together at the Vegas Hilton Buffet. Over 100 attended. I gave away over 12 grand in door prizes, with the grand prize a Stewart screen. That last winning ticket I announced, and a guy comes up: "I'm Mark Haflich. I have the winning ticket. But I understand you're a lawyer, I'm a lawyer, am I eligible, as I'm a Stewart dealer" to which I replied that we didn't have any eligibility rules, so he won!!!@@@

Back in the early 2000s when I attended CES regularly Mark and I always got together. And Mark visited me here in my home theater with a friend after CES about four years ago, too.

These past months Mark had been having a lot of shortness of breath, just not his old self. Drs determined he had blockages, and due to his
diabetes, stents were too risky for the blockages to come back. Mark had a catheterization (to find the blockages) last Monday. And then on Tuesday he had bypass surgery, which is major surgery.

I haven't wanted to bother him, let him rest. But I talked to one of his main employees at Soundworks in Kensington, MD today. He said Mark is doing really good and is expecting to hopefully go home Saturday or Sunday.

He is giving Mark all of our best wishes from AVSers.

I'm sure a few of us who know Mark really well, not only on the forum, but off the forum will talk to him by the end of next week when he's up to it.:D

My sister in law had a four way ten years ago, and has been great ever since. They've seemed to really perfected that surgery.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

My best to you Mark!

Wally at Soundworks only knows Mark had bypass surgery. We don't know if it was two, three or four bypasses.

Now Mark is well known for "four way", but we're not talking surgery. He's known for having four Go-Go girls flirt with him at the same time in the same strip bar and for just flirting and telling them his wife is VERY HOT and he must remain VERY LOYAL!:D

When Mark is feeling well enough to check the forum, I'm sure this thread will perk him up!!!@@@:o

Hi all. I had tripple bypass on Tuesday and was released today. They tell me recovery will take 6 to 12 weeks. I feel like hammered fecal but I am so glad to be home and alive. I`ll post more tomorrow.

Things get better everyday. Things you shouldn`t post about but wow I am feeling a lot better. A long way to go yet. I am starting a physical regime today. Want to be walking a couple of miles a day within 2 weeks.

Next big step gatting the water weight off I gained through the surgery and getting off the diruretic. That should take a week or so.

Picked up my laptop. Over my lifting limit of ten pounds. Hope to get someone here to get the Samsung SP-A900B out of the box and on the table. This is simplistic but I can not lift the box. You realize the little things you can`t do.

Hard to sleep much at night. No way for pain killers for me. But another week or so and I``ll be sleepimg fine and not having to use the facilities all night.

Its kind of hard to type much.

Thanks all. Steve Hill from Straight Wire was in town and came out to see me. He and his wife often visit. One of my installers dropped by and we quickly set up the Samsung SP-A900B. Looked real nice. Very sharp, not noisy either by DB or video noise. I watched it for one hour. More tomorrow.

I just talked to Mark for a bit. He is taking it easy per his doctor recommendation, doing his exercises, but its gonna take many more weeks before he gets back to feeling good as this surgery is a tough one.
Its gonna take time. Mark really appreciates all the care and concern from AVS folks!!@@

Thanks Cliffy. I`ll be atending the meet though I won`t be doing any driving. My chest can`t handle that yet. I`ll still be moving real slow but I`ll be able to eat a little of the world`s best barbeque and I`ll be able to chant OMG Look at them blacks.

Mark, glad you are gettin' better!

You may be two steps ahead of me already.

#1 Hiatal herna so I gotta go easy on BBQ cause if too saucy or spicy I may feel like I'm having a heart attack

#2 My right hip/leg problem, just got right hip MRI results - a torn labrum - that's the tendon socket around the hip. So soon you'll be getting up and walking faster than me. (I see the Orthopod Tuesday, but I suspect the cure is rest, weight loss, anti-inflammatory medication, possibly cortisone injection).
