Its kinda hard to explain so I'm gonna post some pics

So ya the TV is giving me some weird transparent lines, which can be a bit of a nuisance when gaming.

Also anything on the screen that touches the top part of the TV (i.e. health bars, cursors etc...) will give some weird inverted of that object

for example the wii cursor in the wii menu:

So i'm just wondering if theres anything I can do about this.

I know i've seen this before. The raster gets inverted at the top... I don't know exactly what causes it as i was a kid playing with rc cars when i've last seen that, but i think that some electrolytic capacitors in the video area have dried and need replacement.

Getting hold of a service manual and the codes to enter the service menu would help.

I'll give that a try but where can I download the manual (if possible) and how do I figure out the model type of my tv.

Umm, the model number should be on the label that's on the back of your TV.

You may alleviate the problem if you play around with the height (VSIZE) control and/or the contrast control.

The movement of the electron beam down the screen is governed by a certain sawtooth waveform. Should this waveform be deformed, you get the "foldover" or inverted raster problem. Lower contrast reduces the overall demand on the power supply circuits and may cause problems of all kinds to be less severe.

The root cause is aging if not failure of components (someone mentioned electrolytic capacitors above). A good knowledge of analog TV circuits is needed to pinpoint the problem. Most folks nowadays replace the TV set when running into problems like this, or rather use this problem as an excuse to discard the old TV and buy a new TV with more bells and whistles.
