I'm going to be getting the new PS3 slim this week, and I would like to know what store gives the best extended warranty. Right now I'm between Sam's Club, Toy's r Us and Best Buy. What do you guys suggest?

You don't have to worry about having it repaired they just give you a new one no questions asked. vtpsystems 09-01-09, 04:48 AM I understand BB policy changed. Extended warranty or replacement policies are constantly changing. Ask the clerk for a copy of the policy and read it carefully. After reading through the contract understand that to enforce it you may have to follow up with the legal system. Some CC's extend the manufacture warranty and offer additional benefits. Some claim Costco's exceptions to the Costco Lifetime warranty are TVs, iPods and computers (they're all 90 days). Video game consoles are not considered computers at this point. Again, read the contract. If you have doubts have the store director make a note on the receipt and have them print their name and sign it. Keep your original paperwork in a safe place and copies with the box. funsocaltiger 09-01-09, 04:43 PM Walmart is/was only like $29.99 and that was when I bought my MGS4 edition PS3 for $399.99. That is for... I believe... a 2 or 3 year extension to manufacture warranty. I'd have to go back and check but Walmart is ridiculously cheap compared to any other B&M. funsocaltiger 09-01-09, 04:53 PM I understand BB policy changed. They are supposed to replace it after it breaks like 3 times. Well, it broke at least 6 or so times for various things and then the BB manager decided to interpret it as "break 3 times for the same problem" when she asked for a replacement. So finally then it DID break 3 times for the exact same problem and then they interpreted as "over 3 times for the same problem and then they will replace it" and then it did and they STILL didn't want to honor the warranty. She finally ended up getting them to concede and finally got a replacement after god knows how many trips to the store and how many "fixes" that didn't work. Anyway... long story short... BB warranties are in reality worthless for all except the most trivial fixes since apparently the wording of their warranties is really just up to manager discretion. Yes, unless it has changed recently Costco's "warranty" is probably the best and arguably the cheapest (assuming you shop there anyway). And yes it applied to video game consoles. The verbiage is on their website. tingham 09-01-09, 05:15 PM I would recommend Sam's or Costco for sure. You can return the unit at any time for full refund, or exchange, if it breaks, or..you are not happy with it. You can't beat that. Sure wish I bought my 60gb from one of them...:(. |
