Thanks for the reply. Can you link the thread you mentioned? Also any idea if applying the "patch" to 1.28 software will be ok? I hope folks at the Panasonic 800 number can get this to me soon (no trying to figure out what is wrong with my TV etc.) I already pulled the trigger on the Onkyo 707 on sale at Bestbuy currently.someone else had to apply the 1.25 patch after they applied the 1.28 over the internet. It was the only way they could get the fix. They reported no adverse results.

The folks at Panasonic support should be able to hook you up with the official patch without any issue.

I found the following download available for SD Card when I went to the Panasonic Support Drivers Download site for my TC-P54V10:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Televisions/VIERA-Plasma-HDTVs/Drivers-Downloads/model.TC-P54V10.D#ts

2009 Plasma Televison Viera Cast Update

Version1.28
Compatible Models TC-P50V10, TC-P54V10, TC-P58V10, TC-P65V10

Issues Addressed
Onkyo/Integra HDMI Compatibility
THX Picture Mode enhancement

So it appears Version 1.28 solves the Onkyo handshake AND the THX picture mode enhancement issues!!

This update can also be obtained thru the Software Update function in the Network Settings menu which is what I did.

Update for the thread. I upgraded my 54G10 via network to firmware v1.28 before hooking up my Onkyo TX-SR707 and I have not seen any issues thus far after 1 day of use. I have Comcast cable (Moto box), Panasonic BD60 Bluray and Xbox360 going through the Onkyo HDMI switch then to the TV in through mode (no scaling by Onkyo). HDMI power signal (forgot the name) turned off. Everything seems to work fine so far.

Now if only I could get it sounding better then my Yamaha RX-V1700 which it replaced... :( But thats a story for a different thread.

You talk about v1.28 yet less than one month on in the UK and I am advised v2.013 is the latest which mine is on. Are you up to v2.013 in the US or is the firmware version you refer to related to something else in the set?

Mine is a P42v10b which everyone has suggested has a faulty hdmi pcb but because you guys refer to which would appear to be a much earlier firmware version I am wondering if getting an SD card from Panasonic would fix my issue? I have 2 working HDMI sockets 1 and 4 and the other 2 just give me snow. Leaving the 2 faulty hdmi sockets aside surely hdmi1 and 4 that work should handshake properly with my Oppo HM-31 switchbox but no such luck, I get no output just a black screen and yet the Oppo works fine with a 720p LCD.

Interested to hear your thoughts from the USA.

thanks

Last week we were still at v1.28. I was having handshake issues with my Onkyo 507 and v1.24. Sometimes it would switch the input, sometimes it would sit at a black screen with small white boxes crawling up the right hand side of the set. v1.28 and all is well.

I conclude that they use entirely unrelayed firmware version numbers in the USA then - seems odd for an international firm to be running different firmware versions on the v10 series each side of the pond. Perhaps the internals are materially different (for instance I notice you dont seem to have a 42" v10 over there).

Yup US of A is still at 1.28. Funny thing is now I am having issues with my Xbox hdmi not coming up correctly. I am not sure who is at fault though. Cable box works fine over hdmi.

I haven't read anything that indicates that the S1 plasmas are affected by this issue.

The UK press release in the main post only states that the G10 and V10 plasma models were affected.

On the documentation posted by RIG85 they added some LCD models plus the G15 plasma.

Hey all I actually have a Panasonic TC-P50S1 and an Onkyo TX-SR607 and am currently experiencing the dropouts, especially when using my Ps3.

I have submitted a help request email to Panasonic as it seems that is the way to go (not Onkyo) and am hopeful they can help me as I don't have vieracast and can't find any downloadable patches on the website for the Panasonic website for the P50S1.

This is very frustrating indeed - I have only had both for about a month but it is getting worse seemingly by the day!

Has this issue been resolved? I currently have an Onkyo sr 875 an I am about to purchase a 58s1. Any Onkyo 875 owners have issues or was it just relegated to the 6 series

Just an update to this thread it looks like I am having issues now with an Onkyo TX-SR707 and my Panasonic 54G10. Out of the blue I now get complete drop out (black or blue screen) while watching HD cable on a Moto box. It has also happened while playing Xbox360. I have to end up wiggling the HDMI cables or plugging/unplugging them (even unrelated cables) to get it to come back. Power cycling does not help. This has happened to me now 2-3 times in the last month. I am running Panasonic 54G10 firmware 1.28 and checked (through the TV) and there is nothing newer. I guess I have to call Panasonic... :(

I'm having the same issues with my 58V10 that is on 1.28 with my Onkyo 606 and XBOX 360 (set to to 1080P output) & Windows 7 Media Center PC (1080P). :(

I'm 99% sure that I've got this problem too. I'm running a Panasonic TC-P50G15 with 1.28 firmware hooked to an Onkyo TX-SR606. My Dish Network box works fine, but if I try to use my HTPC (Acer Revo), the screen will flicker to black for a minute, and then return to video. This will happen more and more frequently until the connection is gone completely. If I'm reading correctly, applying the 1.25 firmware may help - is this true? This is driving me insane.

Well, tried the 1.25 firmware, and no go. Panasonic's supposed to be mailing me some new firmware, but I'm guessing that it's the same 1.28 that I had. I really don't feel like selling my receiver, but if that's what I have to do I guess I won't have a choice.

I was already running G10 software v1.28 with tuner v1.29. Panasonic sent me an SD card (twice!) and both times I put the card in I get an error saying something similar to "Please check the file (0004)" and nothing upgrades. Since I've now tried two cards from Panasonic I don't think its a bad file. They must not know what they've sent me. Time to call back again and see if I can get it escalated :(

This problem just pops up out of the blue and wiggling or plugging/unplugging cables (various monoprice cables) seems to make it randomly go away. It was really annoying trying to watch some March Madness with it cutting in and out. This is really going to be embarrassing with guests over watching a movie or something with this "fancy" home theater setup and the picture/sound cutting in and out! I really do not want to sell the receiver which I got a great deal on but if things keep going this way I've likely to smash the thing into pieces!!!

OK I just realized I was running 1.29 software. I believe that got bumped when it upgraded to pull in Pandora in Vierra Cast. I don't know for sure but timing seems about right that about the time of the upgrade my HDMI problems may have gotten worse.
