Hello there, long time reader first time poster. I just recently moved into a house with a couple of other college friends and we have, what I think, is a problem with a simple solution. We do a lot of gaming and sports watching, the problem is, sometimes they both happen at the same time. Also, we like to play a lot of co-op games but enjoy using our own TV's rather than doing split screen.

To make a long story short, two of us have nice 32" LCD's that we want to be able to put side by side on an entertainment center, it also has to be big enough to hold an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Surround Sound receiver and the central speaker in the 5.1 setup. I have found some that are just basic flat top entertainment centers but offer little to no storage. It would be nice to find one with some doors to hide some of our games and controllers at times, but it's not necessary. As long as there is enough room for all of our peripherals.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

ps. I'm considering having a local lumbermill make something to my specifications if need be, but would really like to find something for a little cheaper if possible.

Can you mount the TVs on the wall? Then you don't need such a big entertainment center.

We have thought about wall mounting and we have to wait for confirmation from our land lord if it's ok or not. Obviously that would be the best solution. Does anyone have any good solutions for hiding cables? Mind you we are renting so I'm not sure if running cables through the wall is going to work. Thanks again for any suggestions.

Well the walls are up so running cables through the walls probably wouldn't work unless you decided to redo the drywall :)

Now if you can live with how it looks with cables then just tell your landlord that you will spackle and re-paint the room when you move out. You are really looking at only a couple of hours of work since the room will be empty when you move (and assuming your college buddies don't leave you there alone...) sure the landlord would go for that - why not newly painted room for free....

Haha I have actually seen a good friend make a pretty sweet entertainment center with cinderblocks and some treated wood. He custom spaced the cinderblocks so that all his components fit perfectly followed up by his 50" LCD on top, looked like something out of a catalog.

Maybe we will try something like that....
