View Full Version : Do Any Media Players Do FF RW, & Chapters?
spongebob 09-02-09, 09:25 AM I just got an Egreat M34 (PCH Clone). It's been nice to backup my HDDVD/BD collection but we miss the full functons of a real disc player.
Do any current NMT's or similiar (Xtreamer, Ryan, Dune, etc) allow more control for FF RW, skip back, etc?
thx

Popcorn Hour C200 does.
DavidT99 09-02-09, 10:44 AM PlayonHD does to, much better than on my EVA8000. The Playon will FF and REW at various speeds, will do instant replay and skip.

Awesome,
Will the non-c200 PCH's ever be able to with FW upgrade, etc?
Also, does the c-200 or Playon do chapters or is that a function of how you do the backup?
bob
I'm surprised that yours doesn't do fast forward and rewind. My HDX-1000 goes up to 8x on most titles. I haven't looked into it deep enough yet to figure out why it doesn't do it for all of the titles.

The Egreat does do FF. But no RW. If you miss some dialog, too bad!

It's a function of the backup, if you use AVCHD and insert chapter points every five minutes or whatever then you can use them.
One of the trickplay features of the C200 is jumping by percentage. I don't know what the increments are but from the videos I've definitely seen 10%. So then at worst you'd essentially have 9 points to jump to.

Current NMT's do this too. You can use the right and left buttons to quickly jump to a certain time in the movie. Using the numeric keys lets you jump to 0%, 10%, 20%,...90% of the movie.

Yeah, I see that but I'd really like to rewind like the FF does. Why is that a problem?

I'm using Clown-BD, creating 1 .ts or 1 .m2ts file.
thx

even PC's struggle rewinding x264/h264 video. its the way the frames are stored, it's not particularly easy to play them in reverse.
spongebob 09-02-09, 03:31 PM I just received an email from their tech support saying that it does have all these features (FF RW Chapter search).
I'll wait for a real world review and hope that the Egreat can do it too.

FF RW works great with h264 on Xtreamer.

Yes. No problems using it for 6 weeks.
spongebob 09-03-09, 09:41 AM Found the "fix" for the Egreat:
Push left button once, brings up time seek. Each additional button push adds 30 sec. jumps; holding scans through time seek. Right button does same for FF. Even better than FF/RW !!!
