My new Mitsubishi 65737 won't let Dolby signals through the Coax output to the receiver. I have both a Direct TV receiver and a Sony DVD player hooked to the TV with HDMI, and then Coax out to the Stereo Receiver. EVERYTHING is seen a Dolby Pro Logic at the Stereo, and NOTHING is recognized as Dolby Digital. Will this TV allow Dolby Digital signals to pass through?

I know the problem is occuring when I come through the TV, because I can hook up the Satellite directly to the Stereo Receiver with an Optical cable, and Presto...it sees the Dolby Digital programs! Then back through the 65737 with HDMI, only Pro Logic...Anybody have any ideas? The TV has limited settings for Audio, and I have it set to Surround.....

The obvious answer is going to be to just use optical cables, but it's not the answer I'm looking for. I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for everyone in the house, and using HDMI is much easier....You never have to change the input on the Stereo Receiver, just change inputs on the TV and go.

With the advent of receivers that handle video inputs/outputs, the advantage is to run all your video through the receiver and not have to change inputs on the TV, not vice-versa.

I don't see why it would be easier or harder to change inputs on the receiver compared to changing inputs on the TV. Especially if changing inputs on your receiver gets you the sound formats you want.

Because the only Video inputs on the Stereo are 2 Component inputs....then the HDMI's are out of play. I can hook all kinds (4) HDMI components to the TV, run the sound out to the Stereo, and then watching a different component is as simple as switching the input on the TV. The way you're talking, for some components I would have to switch the input on the TV, and then the one on the Stereo.

My question is whether or not the Stereo can still decode Dolby Digital after it comes through this TV, I would be a little shocked if somehow the TV doesn't allow this.

Scanning the Online Manual I answered the question myself, for anyone else wondering, here it is:

'HDMI and Audio Signals
Digital Surround Sound: The TV’s HDMI inputs can receive digital stereo audio signals only. To hear digital surround sound from an HDMI device, connect the device’s HDMI or digital audio output directly to your A/V receiver. See the Owner’s Guides for those devices for instructions.'

Seems a little cheesy for a TV this nice not to have the ability to pass Dolby Digital signals on the the Stereo....Oh well, not that big of a deal!
