Last night, I watched my The Incredible Hulk BD. Starring Ed Norton and Liv Tyler. And while not all of you might like the movie I did. I think it was a decent effort. What impressed me was the sheer SLAM of the LFE. I think I've watched maybe 10 titles so far on my new HT system.

This BD has some very serious LFE. The most I've experienced from any BD so far. So low. With so much energy that I actually felt a little fear that my walls might come apart. Come to think of it. Glad it didn't flow out the glass in my window. Though it didn't rattle at all. Nor the 2 framed movie posters I have on my walls.

My HT room is in the basement. Complete with concrete floors. Though I do have hardwood on top (special foam underneath between). And I felt the force of the LFE on my chest and up through the chair. it's almost as if the bass was slamming into the bottom of my chair. I actually turned down the volume a little. Down to -20 or at one point -22.

From the energy wave sfx to the foot stomps of the Hulk. Force of the forklift that was hurled into another structure. Impressive!!!

Does help to have a sub that can definitely deliver the goods. I have a SVS PC13 Ultra. HUGE sub. Bigger than my floorstanding speakers. :) So very glad I bought this sub. The claims that this sub can really pressurize a room is no exaggeration. And I haven't really cranked up my system. Was loud enough yesterday at -20 to -22. I usually have my Pioneer Elite receiver at -17 for DTS HD MA encoded BD's.

Any how if any of you have watched any BD's which you feel had similar SLAM please post. So far for me this movie gets top spot. More so than Dark Knight. But for overall audio quality I guess I'd still give the top spot to DK. Just in terms of home demolishing LFE this honour goes to The Incredible Hulk IMHO.

Wait a sec, hold up.

You have your Pio Elite receiver @ -17 volume???

Holy crap! You must be going deaf.

How big is your basement? (in square feet)

My room is 16' x 13' and the most I can handle on my Pio Elite SC-05 receiver is -25... any lower and my ears hurt.

I own a 600-watt RMS, Epik Dragon 18" subwoofer (105lbs, sealed). This baby can easily shake my walls, so I can appreciate the LFE impressions you're describing. :)

Threadjack.

Is this even possible? Wouldn't pressurization require an overall increase in the amount of air in the room, or a decrease in the volume of the room? Asking, cause I've seen this here and there and it seems to me to violate physics and certain gas laws...

TIH is one of the best from an LFE perspective no doubt......awesome:) There are many great LFE movies though at this point. Cloverfield and The last ~30 minutes of Transformers are atleast right up there with TIH as far LFE "WOW" factor among others. Lots of good choices at this point.

The please the Audo Tier thread sticky at the top of this forum or the LFE waterfall sticky thread in the Subwoofer forum. That's why these stickies exist. Thanks.
