Ok Guys, The painters just rolled all over my cables. Luckily I had them all wrapped on the connections. My question is what is safe for removing the paint from the cables that will be seen behind the tv? Thanks Greg

One rag damp with Goof Off, then quickly rinse with a water damp rag then towel dry.

+1 have just used this myself (two days ago matter of fact) and works wonders. I have also used the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers with success as well. I would stay away from anything truly harsh such as paint thinner, mineral spirits, or acetone and the like.
Good luck.

If it's water based paint(latex) you can use denatured alcohol. I've had goof-off either discolor or start to melt some plastics. Denatured alcohol dries so fast it doesn't have time to eat at the rubber.

If it is fresh paint (few hours) you can usually get it with just a damp rag. After it dries really hard you need to be a little more aggressive. They do make a water based Goof Off if you have a problem working with the solvent based version.

I've actually found that using the green side (the "scrubby side") of simple kitchen sponges dampened with just water cleaned off paint, primer, drywall dust, and even dried green glue.

I gotta check that out because the solvent based GO stinks to high heaven for a LOOOONG time!
The solvent based Goof Off is Xylene.
That's why it smells to bad.
Industrial methylated spirits i.e. pure 0% water content. It'll take most paints of easily - especially if its water based. You'd have to go to a specialist paint supplier to buy it - rarely found in the big box shops.
It wont eat rubber or plastic either.

Thanks Guys, I will try the water based goof off first, and then proceed downward. Can I just get it at lowes?

The longer you wait the harder it get's to remove. I thought you were done by now.
