Does the "contrast" setting in the Panny Service Menu (HDMI Input) offer a means to raise light output, say for a G10 in THX mode? I know all-drv and user contrast can be maxed to FC and 100, respectively, but I never seen anyone use the contrast control in the SM. Is there a reason it wouldn't work?

Greetings

THX mode is designed for viewing under light controlled conditions ... similar to their reference viewing environment.

Raising contrast too high just adds clipping and discoloration into the equation. Also makes it no longer conform to the THX specs.

I've tried that contrast control in the late model Panny SM, and I couldn't get it to make any change. I ended up putting it back where it was.

I know the setting matters in the s-video input of my '08 Panny but I remember playing with it in the HDMI input, only to find it go back to the default 000 after exiting the SM and then going back in (I also saw no difference while adjusting it in the HDMI input).
