I'm going to replace my 2 current coax splitters. In reviewing the 1000 MHz vs. 2000 MHz+ splitter types, I have this question: what's the difference between power-passing versus non-power passing? How would a power passing affect me in a standard cable installation with a cable modem? The plan is to be forward-looking with the intent of some day having satellite.

Power passing allows DC to pass through the splitter.
If you get satellite in the future you won't have a need for a splitter unless you want to split the signal after the STB.

You don't need the 2ghz for cable or OTA.
