I'm working on putting up the acoustic treatments and wall fabric in my theater. The walls will have with 1" OC703 and covered with GOM Anchorage using a combination of furring strips and fab-trax.

There's a corner of my room where the entry door, media closet, and equipment room are there's very little surface area. It doesn't seem worth the effort to put up acoustic treatments and extend the door jambs.

What I'm considering doing is attaching the GOM directly to the drywall. Has anyone done that? If so what did you use? Staples? Glue? There will be base, chair, and crown moulding going up so I can hide the staples.

You can glue it directly to the drywall. I would use a high quality 3M spray adhesive and do a test first as some of the spray adhesives can be very wet when first sprayed and could soak through. You should also check and see if the drywall will be visible though the fabric. You may need to paint the drywall first to make sure the finished product matches the rest of the room.

I stapled GOM to my ceiling covering the two rear speakers, then covered the staples with trim. Picture of the finished product in my thread some where. It works just fine and it has been there 4+ years.

How long were staples you used? Are they just into the drywall?

1/2 inch, just into the drywall.
