Since the move to the slim I lost access to EU and JPN. There should be a way to post up for download since the files are pretty small right? Do you know where I could download and save to a flash drive? Thx

Yeah, just got this, and really dig it! I wasn't going to wait for it to appear on the US store, because we might get shafted. I think it's the best dynamic theme available (I'm a big Wipeout fan), and you can't beat free.

I don't care how good these dynamic themes may be, though, I'm not interested in spending cash on them. I'd rather invest that money in DLC or a cheap PSN game.

I've read there have been issues with the store over there today with FIFA, LBP, and also Fat Princess demo was reported to be up but is not visable anywhere anymore

I had errors trying to download the WipEout theme as well as FIFA10... I exited the store and went back in and was able to download them with no problems.

Fifa 2010 went fine for me. A lot of improvement over 09. But I don't feel the 360 degree control that much.

Love the new theme. Wonder why they haven't offered a free dynamic theme in the US store yet...

Off topic, but did anyone check out Turtles in Time in the PSN? Played the demo and got a little nostalgic (how do you spell that?). Considering the full game. Would be good fun with 4 friends playing, or during a party or when kids are over.

I agree that it's an unfortunate limitation, but I don't think it was an arbitrary one. How can you offer hobbyists the ability to create full-featured animations without giving the dev kit away? They could make the XMB's background into a Flash application, I suppose, but I'm not sure that'd be a good thing.

Well the flipside is that I'm sure people on the internet could easily make themes just as good (if not better) than what has already been provided and give them away for free and that doesn't help Sony make $.

Don't worry guys. Remember that there are demoscene people with PS3 dev kits (Linger in Shadows, and that other upcoming one that I forget the name of), and they are pros at squeezing amazing things out of the most meager hardware specs, in this case being whatever limit Sony puts on dynamic themes; we are gonna see some spectacular dynamic themes from them.

The best dynamic themes so far have been free. Spread across different regions' stores, but free. And pretty much every major game that's come out HAS had a free theme on the store in the past, so I'm not sure what you're talking about there.

And I think the PS3 SDK is a little more complex than Flash.

The best dynamic themes so far have been free.I would disagree. So far the free ones have been ok. I was willing to pay the $ to get the LBP theme as I like the ones that changed with the time of day. I didn't want to spend the $, but hey I wanted dynamic and NEEDED to get away from the glitter.

The theme is a little too busy for me. I'd love to see one similar to the "home" screen in GT5:P where your car model just rotates slowly. Or like in Burnout Paradise when you leave the game paused and see random scenes of the city.

I guess that's another way they could let hobbyists create dynamic themes without giving away the dev kit: offer a tool that would record video clips during gameplay, and then convert those into themes. The problem would be visible UI elements, but maybe there could be a way to keep those from being captured.

But Martez brings up a good point about demoscene people having the dev kit. They're precisely the people who could do some really interesting stuff and give it away for free.
