I'm in the SM of my Samsung LCD TV (LN-T1953H) and using the HDMI input for my PS3 @ 1080i. In the W/B Movie section I chose ON, then Movie, then Warm2.

The problem is that when toggling between Cool 2, Cool 1, Normal, Warm 1, and Warm 2 the grayscale remains the same (bluish) level.

What is the correct way to calibrate Warm2 when it appears the same as the other options (all bluish/match Cool1 in user menu)?

You must exit the SM to see the different color temps. Also, be aware that all user controls are reset when entering/exiting the SM.

Bolded for emphasis.

So, I'd need to measure outside the SM and adjust in the SM?

Absolutely essential!

Not only that, but before you measure "outside" the service menu, you MUST go into the User Menu and reset Contrast, Color, Brightness, Sharpness, Tint, Switch to Movie mode and Warm2, and reset all the Detailed Settings and Picture Options. This was mentioned and highlighted by other posters, but you didn't say anything in your follow-up that you "got" what they were telling you so I just wanted to make it very clear... entering and exiting the service menu resets all the User Menu controls to factory defaults. If you just begin taking measurements you'll be back to Dynamic mode and a very blue color temp with all the sliders "centered" or whatever their default setting is. It's a real PITA to have to keep resetting. Assuming you have one of the Samsungs with White Balance and CMS controls in the user menu, there's usually no reason to change any service menu settings... the user menu settings work just as well. Of course, if you don't have WB and CMS in the user menu you have no choice but to keep dealing with resetting the user menu controls.

The user menu has no WB or CMS. There are settings labeled "6-color" switch, R,G,B,C,M,Y, and F in the SM under the "SE6181" sub-menu. These may be CMS controls, but I don't really know.

I do realize the user picture settings are fully reset each time the SM is entered, so I'll put it in Movie and Warm 2 (maybe Warm 1 might be a better starting point... I'll check both) and adjust brightness/contrast as needed before measuring.

I tried adjusting the Warm 1 Preset by maxing out the W1_RGain and it did not show in the user menu when I selected Movie and Warm 1. The gain was rasied from 33 to 511 (max) yet the red rgb readings were no higher in the user menu.

Why is this not working like it should?

There are white balance controls in the SE6181
sub-menu which do work though.
