Very Good to Excellent PQ. Don't be alarmed if the PQ is "soft" in some scenes. Artistic intent. Its still sharp and very detailed. But I did not buy this blu-ray to just watch this movie. Its the soundtrack that is the highlight for me. Lux Aeterna in lossless sound in my audio setup is bliss.

I watched it last night and thought it looked great. The pics here of Burstyn and Connelly have plenty of detail imho. This film was very stylized. Lenses were chosen with shallow depths of field to have parts of the image in focus and parts softer. The soft dreamy look is intentional and thank god they didn't EE the hell out of it in an attempt to "sharpen" it up.

Beautiful disc for a beautiful and absolutely brilliant film. Worth double the $10 I paid, easily.

It is very good and sharp.

These captures do look pretty impressive - not brilliant but a lot better than I was expecting, given some of the Lions Gate catalogue transfers I've seen (*cough* American Psycho, The Ninth Gate *cough*). Sadly I don't think much of the film at all.

Blu-ray is night and day superior.

going to purchase this tomorrow, after hearing the track posted in the first post... never saw the movie, but hear it is incredible...

That track has been aped more times than I can count... even moreso in movie trailers (I've had to have heard it in a good half a dozen of them.)

I remember seeing the Two Towers trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9tnZRs4tNE) in the theater and about halfway through I thought to myself "That sounds familiar..." I always thought it was odd for one of the most anticipated movies of all time to re-use the central song from another known movie.

This film is a fine BD catalog release.

I never liked this movie. For whatever reason I heard good things from a friend I trust, but I watched it and just disliked it. It had nothing redeemable for me.... except for that soundtrack. Was the first time I heard Clint Mansell and that guy can make some music. I personally feel like The Fountain is the better of Darren Arronofsky and the soundtrack in that is amazing as well.

Ok, I know that was off topic, but whatever ;).

Thanks for posting the YouTubes, this movie has some of the most powerful soundtrack I have ever witnessed in a movie.

Also agree with MrHunt that The Fountain stands up there with this one, both in cinematic and soundtrack quality.
