I was away for a weekend and decided to take my 360, my archos 605 pmp, my laptop and 24 LCD.

After playing disc games for awhile, I decided to fire up an arcade game but I couldn't since I had bought it on other old xbox 360 and had not redownloading the game after migerating the DRM to my new 360.

This is a well talked about issue so I won't dwell on it. My bad, it sucked.
Next I hooked my Archos 605 up to my 360 via USB to watch some south park and movies I had the digital edition of from blu-ray purchases.

Wouldn't go.
I looked up the error message on my laptop which had a "rogers intenet rocket" and it seems I have to download a codec EVERYTIME(?) I want to watch DIVX's.

Had I ethernet cable handy I could have ICS my laptop but thats getting a bit complicatted in my mind.

I would've liked to
Monitor-xbox-archos 605
Seems pretty simple and nice setup

Don't want to have to do
monitor xbox 360- archos 605
<
laptop-rogers stick

Now this is part rant and part plea for help/infortmation. Am I better travelling with my PS3?

Can I downloaded the divx codec before I leave the house and be good?

Or Am I going to have to run my Thinkpad for movies/south park
and 360 for games/movies?

I thought this was going to be a different type of thread of 360s not "traveling well". I took one with me on a road trip in one of those conversion vans I had rented (why do these vans come with the smallest steering wheels on earth :( ) and I pretty much blew every auxiallary fuse in the thing. We had converters, amps etc and poof the 360 went through them all. Would play for a little while but I think once that DVD drive kicked in it was RIP time.

Guys were saying they were running all kinds of power tools and such off these different devices but the 360 made quick work of them all.

I thought you were going to talk about the power brick. I've taken the 360 with me on several different trips, and it worked out fine, but the only thing that was kinda lame about it was the size of the power brick. Usually, when you think of the 360, you don't think of it as a really huge gaming system, like the first Xbox was, but when you factor in that power brick, it becomes a bit more difficult to pack it up in a compact space. I seriously doubt that MS will ever have a slim 360, but maybe they could figure out a way to put the power internal somehow.

I've been trying to type for 2 mins now and cant because that picture of that dog has me dying laughing.

Two things..

1) Nope it doesnt travel well. Its clunky, the powerbrick sucks and you need an internet connection to make the best of it.

2) You can 'authorize' the downloads from your XBoxLive gamertag to a particular console. If you only own and only play on 1 console, you wont need the constant internet connection to play XBL movies, games, DLC or videos with codecs. All of those will be authorized to a single console and downloading it once is enough. I just found out about this and I've owned a 360 for 4 years now (damn time flies!!)

The problem comes is when you play on many consoles (like myself.. I actually keep my XBL gamertag profile on a mem card). Because you will need a internet connection to authorize any content you have downloaded.

Thanks Daekwan...
I hooked u[p my Archos lsat night and watched a south park, I had to redownload a codec. I'm hoping next time I travel the movie will work.

Blowing fuses etc in a van must be a real pain in the kiester
