View Full Version : i1 pro packages
I'm planning to purchase i1 pro. I know that's there is a number of packages available: beamer, basic, SpectoCal, etc. What are the differences? I've checked the X-Rite site, but still confused. I plan to use it to calibrate LCOS/DLP front projectors, but I'd like also to profile my printers (not enough to pay a big premium for this). If some package will have target like ColorChecker SG it would be a nice bonus. I don't care much about bundled software - xyY readings is what I need most.

Almost all today i1Pro packages and modules (with specs and product codes) from X-Rite:

There are only two versions of the i1Pro meter itself with and without a UV filter. For video you want the one without the UV filter which is the one we sell as do most. The UV filter based i1Pro is more suited for print material. The packages from X-Rite are just bundles of different version of software.
If bought from a Basic package, How do I know if it's with or without without the UV filter? Is there a way to remove the filter itself?
Pitou!

There is the label "UV" on the i1Pro UV-cut calibration tube. And the i1Diagnostic software can help you to define your i1Pro version. The UV-filter cannot be removed.
By the way, I have both versions of i1Pro (with and without UV filter). There isn't any difference between them for display calibration.
Thanks very much for the clarifications.

The UV filter version costs more.

suppafreak 01-20-10, 10:58 PM I have the OEM version of i1-pro which is not activated with any modules and therefore I cannot use the x-rite software with it. Does anyone knows of any other monitor calibration and print profile software that will work with i1 pro?
Thanks

One of my i1PROs is the same. But I don't have problems with it. Any calibration/profiling application (except the i1Match, of course) does work with such i1Pro. Including applications from X-Rite.
Moreover if you want you can buy one or more i1Match modules to use this application. But the i1Match software is considered as not powerful enough.
suppafreak 01-21-10, 09:44 AM Can you suggest any applications?

OK
1. X-Rite ProfileMaker (expensive)
2. basICColor display and basICColor Print
3. ColorEyes Display Pro
4. X-Rite MonacoPROFILER (expensive)
5. Fuji ColourKit (expensive)
6. free ArgyllCMS
7. i1Match
and so on.

You can use ArgyllCMS for monitor and print calibration with that meter http://www.argyllcms.com/ I just used it (with great results) to calibrate my PC monitor using the following command line:
dispcal -v -yl -qh -b80 -e1 -t6500 -o profilename

Yes, there is no difference. Look at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1222784
i1Pro vs i1Pro UVcut - one of examples - white point CCT 6500K - wide gamut LCD (92% NTSC).
