View Full Version : Best Music/Score 360
What are peoples favorite music scores out there on games?
360 and arcade games only.
The Halo 3 score really moved me, Fable 2 just feels "right" and Crackdown I pound everytime I get a new audio componet, I just sit in a car and let the beats rumble. COD MW really sets the atmosphere. Braid Is also excellent, I love playing the first level when I'm mellowed out.
Fable 2 and Braid were the first scores that came to my mind. Mass Effect's music was excellent too.
JuiceRocket 09-14-09, 07:27 PM I enjoyed the Mass Effect soundtrack enough to go out and purchase the soundtrack. I've got it loaded on my Zune and G1, and listen to it at work sometimes to chill out.
I like that it reminds me of portions in the game that I really enjoyed, such as becoming a specter, etc. Great soundtrack.

eatenbacktolife 09-14-09, 09:08 PM Both Bionic Commando games, by a huge margin.

I'd have to agree with this. Both Bionic Commando: Rearmed (http://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/b/bcrearmedxboxlivearcade/) and Bionic Commando (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/b/bioniccommando/) had amazing scores.
257Tony 09-14-09, 10:46 PM Mass Effect and Oblivion are two of my favs.

The piano during the menu of Bionic Commando is superb. I think nostalgia plays a part, but it doesn't take away from the fact both games have such amazing soundtracks.
pcweber111 09-15-09, 12:21 AM Oblivion, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, and Deadspace (even though it does sound better on the PS3).
Well I never played Halo 1 and 2, so for me the Halo score was phenominal. I saw the E3 the months before Halo 3 was released, and they had that band play the prolonged Halo score and I was impressed. The last level where you are on the warhog trying to escape the destroying halo ring, with cortana continuously stating hurry up, and the 'Halo theme' music playing was quite dramatic.
I know its not a full score, but the music that plays when you find the cog tags in Gear 1 is also very catchy, and distinctive. Similarly when defeating a group of enemies, and the 'victory' score in gears is also pleasing to hear (especially on insane).
pcweber111 09-15-09, 12:34 AM Oh also forgot to mention that Prey had a pretty darned good score. It was very effective.
I'm going to thrown in a game I never hear people talk about which was hitman blood money.
I found the music really set the mood.
Slightly off topic, what happened to games pretty much always having music? I find games that always have music (say Fable2/Mass Effect) I get sucked into much more and games feel alot more alive.... anyone else?

Yup, I agree. With Mass Effect I sometimes felt like I was in the middle of an interactive movie. Great stuff.

dbburns 09-15-09, 01:43 PM I like the victory song when I clear the last orange peg in Peggle. Makes me proud everytime I hear that Ode to Joy after the slow-mo of the ball hitting the peg and those fireworks fly.
bdwright77 09-15-09, 03:32 PM Oblivion and BC rearmed are my two most recent favorites.
oo7evan 09-15-09, 03:42 PM braid was good, but I'm surprised no one has said Bioshock. The atmospheric, orchestrated score was a large part of the fantastic environment. You can DL the whole soundtrack for free too. Check out Cohen's Masterpiece.
formulanerd 09-15-09, 05:40 PM i'd say halo 3, it gives the most cinematic feel to any game I've played, and it doens't resort to hour long cutscenes like those other games.
Believe it or not I still haven't gotten around to playing through bioshock, or even really playing it.
I'll have to check it out.
The loading music to Sanxion.
Otherwise Halo (1 and 3) are pretty impressive. Mass Effect was great too.
I like the oblivion music but it gets a bit repeative. I'm pretty sure I heard some of the same movements in Fallout3.

Jesper Kyd always delivers.
+1 on CoDMW (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmPUc8ZpQDY).
Also I'll throw in the Bourne Conspiracy.

Blasphemy! It's still one of my favorite games of the last couple of years, largely due to its great atmospheric setting. The shooting mechanics and RPG elements give a unique twist too, as there are multiple ways to approach each scenario.
Did the new unreal ever come out for xbox? I have the PC soundtrack that I really like.
It's Jesper Kyd and someone else famous, I think it was one of the NFS guys if memory serves me right.
On that note I'll +1 CODMW.... the sound track never really stood out as I was playing it but now that I think about it was there alot making things more intense
