so I went thru 2 Sony Bravia Z5100 but they both had clouding issues... next up i picked and currently have the Samsung B750.. and although the blacks are great and picture is amazing i find it has one major flaw...input lag.. i average about 46ms input lag on this set and as a gamer that is just to much for myself... so i've been doing research about the G10.. I've never owned a plasma and i understand that burn-in is pretty much non-existent but i do have some questions..

1. IR... am i to understand that with proper break in and time that this isn't a very large issue?

2. Black Bars.. most of my TV watching is SD thru AT&T do i have cause for worry because most of those channels have the top and bottom black bars?

3. Input lag.. i've been told that most plasma "especually the G10" is about 30ms and with game mode on almost non-exisitant?

4. Phosphor trails? I've seen youtube videos that looked pretty bad but then i read post of people who downplay it... are they a real issue? do they go away over time? any info about these would be great

5. I noticed on my friends plasma when watching HD channels sometimes he will have a small white line at the top of his screen as if the picture needs to be moved up... what are these lines and is there a way to fix them?

Thanks again for all your help

I too went through several Z and then XBR Sony's that all had backlight problems/flashlights... what a nightmare. Have you thought about a 500m? they can be had online for 1500ish.

no i haven't really looked at that set.. lets just say there was a mistake made after my 2nd exchange from the bravia to the samsung... basically they returned my perches as a store credit so now i'm pretty tied into getting my tv at best buy... :(

I replaced my 52a750 with a 54g10 and it was a massive improvment over the LCD in almost every way. I say go for it as I have zero regrets about switching the LCD for the plasma. (though I am thinking about going for a 65s1 since they are dirt cheap, size is the biggest regret when buying these sets, buy as big as you can afford.)

Ok so I figure I can try to see if bb le me hook my ps3 up to the g10 ans I assume if my eyes are sensitive enough I will se phosper or not.. However my bigest concern is se black bars what can be done about them? I don't want to always have ir from them.

Honestly, while it is true that burn-in has mostly become a non-issue for plasmas (and thus they are good for gaming), I'd be really reluctant to watch a lot of 4:3 content on a plasma. That's a whole different issue than having some static images on for a while. Especially early on, I would be concerned about the uneven wear on the panel. After having the TV for a while (say 6 months to a year), I wouldn't be as concerned. But early in the life of the set, it's important to try and break the panel in evenly. Black bars from movies and some 4:3 is fine, but if you're going to watch a lot of 4:3 content from the beginning, I'd reconsider.

And I have a Panny V10 that I love, so I'm a big plasma supporter.

*sigh* not sure what to do... i planned on breaking in the set for the 120 hours before i watched any black bar content.. how can people watch tv on plasma if there is a problem with black bars as most TV stations have them?
