Hopefully someone here can help me out. This is my first plasma TV and I can not get my recevier to work with this TV. I had my pioneer elite receiver(84 I think, I dont have it in front of me) hooked to my Sony LCD TV(5 years old) upstairs. I had everything hooked to the Recevier and then HDMI hooked to the TV. Everything worked fine 100%. I bought the 860 from BB 2 weekend ago and hooked up my pioneer receiver to the TV. It did not recognize the receiver. So I called Samsung and they escaleted it to the level 2 tech support and they tell me that Pioneer receivers are not compatible with Samsung TV's. WHAT???????????????? I go to Best buy and they tell me that they have all kinds of problems trying to get Pioneer receivers to work with they TV's they hook up for home theatre. Does anyone have any insight on this and has anyone heard of the problem? If so, is there a resolution, other than buying another receiver?

Thanks,

Mark

Was your old TV 720P? Are you sure your receiver passes 1080P? Mine doesn't, and I had to order an HDMI switch, with which I will split the signal, 1 output to the TV, the other to my receiver (for audio).

The old TV was 720P-1080i. The receiver is supposed to upscale to 1080P. I aslo connected using component cables and it also did not recognize the receiver.

In that case, I guess I'm glad I went with the Panny V10, since I also have a Pioneer Elite (72). In wait mode for the TV right now, though.

Why not feed all your signals to the TV then just feed your audio to the Pioneer. The newer TV will have better upscaling processing anyway.

From what I understand the receiver has better upscaling. I could be wrong here though. I also was under the impression that the ideal way to hook up a home thetre is to run everything through your receiver and then one cable to the TV. That is the way that I had it before. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Better is relative with respect to hook-up. It may be simpler to have your cabling go to the receiver then out from there but I prefer my sources directly connected to tv or audio, ie. bluray/dvd to plasma instead of bluray/dvd to receiver to plasma.

Thanks. Does anyon else have any thoughts on the ideal way to hook up the different components of the system? Do you run everything through your tv and then sound thru your receiver or do you run everything thru your receiver and then one cable to your TV?
